He's On Top - erotic book by Cleis Press Inc. - review by LambChop

He's On Top is a collection of erotic male-dominant stories edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, who is an author, editor, and blogger. She has edited several erotica collections, and I've been impressed with the ones that I've read. They all include a great mix of styles and stories within the theme. The theme is "tender tops and sensual sadism," but that doesn't mean this book is a softie. All of the stories are smokin-hot and portray different styles of Domination and submission, but all in a non-sexist way. These are stories of sexy sex at its finest -- more than role play.

The stories in "He's On Top" vary in writing style but all wonderfully fit the theme of male-dominant/female-submissive erotica. All of the stories are of subs who are not powerless slaves, and Doms who are not cruel abusers. These stories felt more like what 'real life' Dom/sub couples are doing...living life as strong independent partners and having sexy, dirty D/s sex when nobody's around. These stories are great representations of what true power exchange can be.

This Cleis Press book is a high-quality trade paperback size, 172 pages with a glossy cover. The front cover features a squatting woman in a corset, collar, and leash, and is emblazoned with the title in red. This is not a discreet book cover. It is, however a great size for travel. Book cover, anyone?

The editor writes in the Introduction that she "wanted to pay homage to the...true top...who cares about the context of their kinky actions." Well done, Ms. Bussel!

The stories are fairly short, all well-written, and very engaging. They're the perfect size for reading aloud to or with your partner. I find the best thing about an anthology like this is the ease of 'picking and choosing' just what I'm looking for when I need a little quickie.
