Rough Sex?! I am so there! Penny Flame’s Guide to Rough Sex is yet another valuable addition to our library. My partner and I greatly enjoy rough sex, so we are always on the look out on how to perfect techniques, and do the activities as safely as possible.

The film begins by discussing what kinds of activities are considered rough sex, and a simple introduction to the safety of these activities. Consent, discussion, and communication are repeatedly drilled into your mind. The introduction also talks about how the performers were chosen because of their real life interest in rough sex; this is a definite plus in my viewing pleasure. It is always better when the performers are into what they are doing. There are interviews with the performers where they talk about what they like about rough sex and how it incorporates into their personal lives.

The first introductory scene is fundamental going over what parts of the body that can be abused. Penny is quite adamant about keeping oneself hydrated due to the high rigors of rough sex. She also continues to remind the viewer about avoiding the kidneys – and also the eyeballs and ears which I found somewhat obvious, but as my partner stated to “Never underestimate the stupidity of people”. This scene is great for beginners because it discusses how to safely slap someone’s face, pull their hair, and different kinds of slaps. What makes it incredibly enjoyable is the genuine chemistry between Penny and Mia Lelani. They are just so cute and into one another, it’s adorable.

The first full scene is definitely the best. Penny and Derrick Pierce have phenomenal chemistry and you can really tell that they enjoy what they are doing and one another. This scene has something for everyone: doggie style, orgasm denial, forced face fucking, it’s quite the gem! It also is a little bit longer than your standard porn scene, but not so long as to ask “when will they stop”. There is also a bonus sex scene with Penny and Derrick that is amazingly hot and definitely worth watching.

The second scene was in my opinion the weakest. Devin and Aiden Starr have no chemistry really, and you are watching the entire scene wondering when she will be quiet. It’s a female domination scene, so those who enjoy that may find more pleasure than I did, but I felt it was awkward and not particularly arousing in the least. It includes a bit of animal humiliation and forced oral sex as well.

The third scene was great in the sense that the performers showed how trust can be built over the course of the scene. Mark Davis gained Lexi Belle’s trust slowly, but it exploded into a really hot and physically demanding fuckfest. Mark really plays off the psychological aspect of rough sex, even bringing Lexi to tears. He handles it well and checks in and they quickly resume their fun.

The only negatives about the film would be in the production values. The aspect ratio of tends to default to wide-screen which was irritating on our full screen television. It is not as noticeable in the first scene, but gets worse as the film continues, though you can tell it is supposed to be wide-screen format from the titles which are cut off. It detracted from some of the scenes because you could not see the sex, only random objects – nice watch, Mark. There does not seem to be an option to move to full-screen.

There several “bonus features” that I felt could have been added to the film itself. The safer sex feature definitely should be part of the main film, as Penny stresses it, but then the only condom we see is on a Hitachi Magic Wand. There is a detailed informative section on choking and how to grip the neck as to not hurt your partner. This is well done and again, communication and paying attention are stressed. This should have been added to the main film as the performers are choking one another, but it was not reviewed in the introductory section and let’s face it – in rough sex, choking is fairly prevalent.

The action is interrupted by interviews with the performers – this is jarring and tends to take away from the action. Scenes are also interrupted by instruction and actions to watch out for by Penny Angel and Devil – little computer animated graphics that I found annoying. Thankfully the scenes are available without instruction in the bonus area.

This is great film, and is good for beginners and seasoned players alike. The information is well presented and concrete and the sex scenes are incredibly hot and realistic; definitely a treasure in our collection.

My partner and I have had a tiring weekend, so when he put the DVD in I was more interested on an intellectual level than actually being horny – that changed, quickly. We had to watch this video in pieces because we were so aroused by it. When a film has you making love before the introduction is finished, you know it is going to be a good one.

We eventually managed to finish it and all I have to say is, wow! The film stumbles a bit, but it definitely gave us a lot of information, and new techniques to try in our lovemaking. Don’t worry about making it through the first time, the first few scenes are much to hot for that. You’ll have to stop and take breaks. Trust me.

We unfortunately haven't watched this film since the first time - since learning of Jennie Ketcham's desire to quit porn and deal with her issues, it seems wrong to me somehow. I still support the sections on safer sex and how to choke properly. This was an amazing movie, but knowing about Jennie's personal struggles kind of takes the fire out of it. I'm sure the other scenes still hold their fire though.
