As a big fan of Tristan Taormino’s work I was very enthusiastic and excited to watch this with my partner. And not just because of the subject matter.

Tristan is extremely intelligent, informative, frank and honest. She is also very warm and friendly in person. So I found it a little disappointing that this does not come across that way in this.

Having met Tristan in person and seeing how vibrant and enthusiastic she is about her work makes it harder to understand why she is so stiff in this. Perhaps it is just a trapping or expected norm of the instructional guide genre. But this is the 2nd one I have watched of late where the hostess/instructor came off as clinical and impersonal, which detracted from my enjoyment of the guide on a whole.

But I adore Tristan's work, so she gets a pass for that, which is one of very few complaints I have about this guide.

The descriptions, techniques, and anatomy lessons are very well presented and executed. And having a live demonstration performed by a couple is a very nice touch. I personally am a very visual person (as I suspect most men are), and seeing the techniques demonstrated in the flesh and the feedback of the participants made the content resonate far better than any diagram or simulation could.

The scenes overall are very well done and erotic. That I didn't finish the whole DVD is not because I didn't want to, but rather because my partner and I were too busy applying what we saw demonstrated. So I didn't get through the whole thing on the first viewing. Not that I minded.

My only complaint about the scenes is that this guide was advertised as showing “real couples”. Maybe they are porn stars who are dating in real life, but that's not what I think of when I hear “real couples”. This seems to be another common failing of these kinds of guides, along with the overly robotic hosts.

On the bright side the actors they chose are attractive without being overly “porno” or “fake” looking. They are also enthusiastic and seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves, and not just working (which is always a big plus with any kind of erotica). After all, sex *is* supposed to be fun.

Overall this is a very well executed and informative guide that delivers in the most important areas of its promise. It also has several disc options that are useful, although the pop up comments, while a cute idea, are kind of annoying.

I highly recommend this to any couples looking for fun ways to spice up their sex lives. Tristan Taormino is a great teacher and sex expert of the highest order. This guide makes me look forward to checking out the other guides that she has put out. Especially any she herself participates in.
