I am a Passionista

Passionista - The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Pleasing a Man, written by Ian Kerner, Ph.D is a must read for any woman who wants to get their man “turned on and have him stay on”. This book also is good for giving the basic run down of, well, everything under the umbrella of “male sexuality”

useful review
I first must start out my review telling you that this book has so much information and hits on so many topics and subjects it would be nearly impossible to tell you in my review all that this book covers.

This book is broken down into two parts, the first part titled The Male Body and is comprised of 4 out of the 17 chapters in the book. The author starts out giving a run down of the male anatomy, with a sense of humor so you won’t feel like you’re in anatomy class. He then moves on to talk about anxieties that many males have and how they hinder sexual performance; he talks about the male sexual response cycle, from erection to orgasm, and he talks about fantasizing and explains that this is a healthy part of any relationship. I would say the first section is a complete run down of the male body from penis, perineum and ass to the brain and everything in between.

Next you move on to Part Two - Techniques. Now were getting in to the meat and potatoes of the book. He left off in part one discussing fantasies, so the first chapter of part two is focused on putting those fantasies into action, or a least getting them on the table for discussion. Next he touches on sexual health and how every day stressors, such as work, money, all the normal real life issues everyone has, can and do affect a man’s sexual health.

Chapter Seven - Turning Foreplay into Moreplay is. you guessed it, about foreplay and the importance of foreplay to both men and woman in a relationship. Chapter Eight is called Taking the Leap and he discusses a technique he uses in his counseling sessions to get couple to open up and tell each other what they want. Some of the comments his patients have made were:

“I want to tie you up”
“I want to shave you”
“I want to watch porn with you”

Chapter Nine is about the White Tigress which was developed in ancient China by a secret society of female Taoist sexual warriors, and he tells us woman to think of the Passionista as a direct descendant. Chapter Ten is actual stories that he had picked up while writing this book from woman who have already become Passionista’s and the techniques and idea’s that they have used in their relationships.

Okay now Chapters Eleven through Seventeen are all about the sex that you, as a Passionista, can initiate and have. In these six chapters he talks about the different ways to get your man aroused, and how to keep him aroused. This is where the information overload takes affect. He talks about ways to stimulate him and get his engine running without your normal direct stimulation, i.e. hand job, head….. He explains again the different cycles that a man goes through from erection to orgasm, and how to prevent the latter from happening before you are ready for it. He will give you a breakdown of his technique Please, Squeeze, At Ease, which will help prolong your love making session so that both parties are satisfied at the end. There are also tons of tips on everything from sensual massage and kissing to hand jobs and head, up to penetration and the grand finale!

There is just so much information covered in this book that I think any woman should have this book around. While some area's in this book he touches on and mentions a lot of different techniques with out going into to much depth, there is always a resource or suggestion of a book that you could get to further educate on any one of the topics or techniques he touches on.
Experience
So I ordered this book, well just for the hell of it, not that I thought I needed help in pleasing my man, I think I do a good job at that, but everyone can always improve in one area or another, right? So when I finally got this book in the mail I sat down and gave it a once over. One thing I did notice is this book is based a written from the counseling aspect, so my first thought was, "well we really don't need this, we don't have issues that need counseling".

Turns out this book is so much more, while I would recommend this to any couple that are having problems and considering going to a sex and relationships counselor this book is just a great read for any woman in a relationship, even if your relationship is fairly new, maybe you could avoid ever ending up in a rut with the info in this book. I can't stress enough that there is just so much more information in this book than what I mentioned in my review. Even when I was reading it I would come across certain topics and read that section to my BF, and we would have a great conversation about the topic and how we felt about it and if we thought that is or ever would be a problem for us. I could go on forever, but I will spare you.
