About author

Written by Dr. Carol Livoti and her daughter Elizabeth, this book is 100% enjoyable. Dr Livoti has been a practicing gynecologist for many, many years and thus is able to speak directly from her experience. I really enjoyed little snippets that they put in of stories from Elizabeth's childhood growing up with a gynecologist mother and also from Dr. Livoti's experience herself, stories her patients brought her.

Content / Style / Audience

This book is written for anyone who wants to know more about vagina and the experiences they can bring towards the person who has one. They write it jam packed with information, but they dumb it down a bit expecting that not all of the readers will have a PhD in medicine and/or anatomy. They also make it a very entertaining read using some common vernacular mixed in with appropriate terms (e.g. - labia, penis, rectum, etc).

Considering how full of information this book is, it may be a difficult read for anyone with absolutely no background in anatomy; however, the authors take a lot of time explaining things, so as to make it understandable to those with no experience.

What they've written is totally useful, explaining everything from urination to menstruation to sex. They include all areas from safety to pleasure. They also talk about size, shape, coloration, and shaving.

Design

The book is very well put together, with some good drawings showing where the body parts are, e.g. where the clit is versus urethra, the vagina versus the rectum, etc. The chapters and sections are broken up well, so they make full sense where they're put.
    • Diagrams / photos included
    • Not very discreet cover

Personal comments

Honestly, I love this book! The entertaining title is what originally draw me to it. I think that all women need one. I also believe that this book would be a good one to give to young women, once the parents feel that they are mature enough to handle a book with content such as this.

Also, I was very impressed with this book because the authors are 100% kink friendly!

Experience

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this book. It has a lot more useful information than I thought it would. A total win!

Good review. Do you think this would be a good book to suggest to women as something to share with their older teen daughters or not? My kids are grown, but I have friends that have teen daughters. Just wondering what you think since you read this book. Thanks.

@JR: Actually, yes. It would help guys have an understanding of the workings of it, etc.

@Missptunia: Yes, I would, so long as the teen is mature. It's a pretty detailed, information heavy read so the teen would have to be able to assimilate not only anatomical information but sexual information as well.

This seems like a book every woman should have. Maybe even a good deal of men, too.

Thanks for the info about the teens and yes, the teens in question are very mature 17 and 18 year olds...their mom wants them to be knowledgeable and safe. Education is knowledge.

I haven't read this book, but I actually bought it for one of my really good friends. At the time, she was interested in learning more about her body and didn't know a whole lot. So I saw this book in a store glanced through it and bought it for her to help her out.
