Love and Other Mishaps by Digital Playground - review by Mr. E

Love and Other Mishaps is mainstream porn geared toward just about anyone who likes their porn a bit boring. The scenes come across like they are in real time and are all done in the course of an afternoon. The actors all wore the same outfits throughout the movie. The movie stars Stoya, Sasha Grey, Nicole Ray, Tony de Sergio, Mick Blue, Mr. Pete, Scott Nails, and Christian.

The premise is that Stoya is about to get married to Tony, but Mick, who is in a relationship with Tony's sister Sasha, is falling for her. There was a hint of a plot here, but it was kind of pointless and hard to follow. The acting was substandard, even for a porn movie. It was also sometimes hard to comprehend the dialogue. It's best just to disregard the plot altogether. Fortunately, the five sex scenes each range from 12 to 18 minutes in length, leaving only about 12 minutes wasted on poor character development and the misguided plot.

The brief setups between scenes were intended to help build the plot, but I thought they failed in that regard. They were ineffective, and because they were so poorly done, I would have preferred to just have the sex scenes alone. Even at that, the sex was nothing to write home about. It was mediocre at best.

Scene 1: Stoya and Tony de Sergio

The first sex scene stars Stoya and Tony de Sergio in a bedroom exchanging oral services. He goes down on her, she goes down on him, and they 69. She straddles him and rides his pleasure stick to Happy Town, causing him to dribble his spunk on her bush. Stoya smiles throughout the scene as if she is enjoying it, but they both seem awkward and disinterested.

This was a bad scene to start the movie off with because there was no music at all to set the mood. The monotone room was brightly lit and offered no visual appeal. Tight close ups along with the bright lighting really emphasizes the contrast between Stoya’s milky white skin and Tony’s more natural skin tone. Stoya appears so pale that she blends in with the sheets. I'm thinking, "If it wasn’t for her dark bush, Tony wouldn’t know where to push."

We did not find these 15 minutes at all arousing.

Scene 2: Sasha Grey and Mick Blue

Next, we see Sasha Grey and Mick Blue getting busy in another bedroom of the house. Sasha slobbers all over Mick as she enthusiastically deep throats his cock. She straddles Mick, and he piston fucks her really good. Once again, there is no music, but there is excessive, loud breathing. He pants heavily throughout and she squeals frequently. At one point, she convincingly begs, “Choke me, choke me, please choke me.” This was actually surprisingly hot. They continue to do it in various positions. The scene ends with Mick shooting into Sasha’s wide-open mouth as she keeps eye contact the whole time.

This was the best scene of a bad movie.

Scene 3: Stoya and Mr. Pete

Stoya is at the bar talking to bartender Mr. Pete. They start kissing and then he squats down and licks her. He stands up and pulls her off the bar stool and down onto her knees to suck him. He bends her over the stool, tongues her for a second, and then does her from behind. They wind up on his couch in the corner where he fucks her some more. Next thing you know, she is on the floor between his legs where she briefly tugs and twists his testicles as she strokes, causing Mr. Pete to erupt into her hot little mouth. She confidently takes it with a smile…Stoya style. She gets bonus points for hand-mouth coordination.

Scene 4: Scott Nails and Nicole Ray

Apparently, everyone likes to have sex in this bar because now Scott Nails and Nicole Ray start going at it. Who is Scott? Who is Nicole? Why are they here? I don’t know. And I really don’t care. But they are here, and they are going to do it. Unfortunately, this scene was not that good. Scott goes down on Nicole and then she hops down from her bar stool and returns the favor. He bangs her from behind, up against a beam in the bar. There is some more sucking and fucking and--you guessed it--he finishes in her mouth.

Scene 5: Stoya and Christian

Back at the house, Stoya is now going at it with another guy, Christian. Who is he and how did he get here? We don’t know! They are engaged in a 69 when Christian wraps his arms around her waist and stands up, still in a 69 position. I have to admit, that’s pretty impressive. But, those few seconds didn’t overcome this uninspired scene.

The menus on the Blu Ray disc feature the stunning photo of Stoya from the box cover fixed on the screen, while short clips from the movie play in the background. The icons to make menu selections are too small and difficult to read from across the room.

The disc contains a menu of Special Features. First is a Behind the Scenes video that runs just over nine minutes. It is just a collection of scenes from the movie from either the camera guy's or the director's perspective. In one of these short blips, we see Stoya telling Robbie that the lube for the anal with Mr. Pete feels like razor burn. She just wants to finish the scene. The whole thing was pointless garbage and not worth watching, in my opinion.

Next was a photo gallery that consists of seventeen still photos from the movie. It plays in less than 90 seconds and then kicks you back to the menu screen.

There are seven trailers for other Digital Playground movies included in the Special Features menu. These previews may be the best part of this disc. I wish I had picked up any one of those seven instead of this one.

Stoya’s picture on the box had me really looking forward to watching this movie. Stoya looks amazingly hot in a pair of laced-up leather panties and matching gloves. Unfortunately, we never get to see this outfit in the movie. Instead, Stoya wears something a bit more conservative and unexciting. The only thing I can figure is that it must be her lucky outfit because she wore it in all three of her sex scenes.

Sasha Grey, on the other hand, looked pretty damn hot in a short mini skirt and a see-through blouse that showed off her perky little breasts and nipples. My wife and I were both impressed with her performance.

It is unfortunate that we both found this movie boring. Neither of us really got aroused watching it. Stoya fans may want to check this one out because she is in three of the five sex scenes. Everyone else should probably watch anything else.
