Love and Other Mishaps by Digital Playground - review by Champagne and Benzedrine (Roland Hulme)

Okay, I'll admit it. I have a think for pale, icy brunettes - which makes any movie pairing sensational Stoya with stunning Sasha Grey worthy of my attention. One just hoped this dynamic duo wouldn't disappoint in Love and Other Mishaps.

Well, the verdict's in and my call is 'close, but no cigar' (or other Fruedian object.) This largely stems from a sound problem throughout the entire DVD with makes much of the dialogue kind of difficult to catch. You'd think that wouldn't be a problem, but part of this film's appeal is the emotional eroticism and you kind of lose out on that by not being able to totally get your head around the plot.

What I did get, though, was a storyline that promised a very complex and intense relationship between the two main characters - played by Stoya and Mick Blue. There was electric chemistry between the two - as demonstrated my smouldering exchanges and longing glances - which was made even hotter by the fact that Stoya inflamed Mick's lust by tangling between the sheets with other men who meant nothing to her.

Complicating their intangible relationship was the fact that Mick was sleeping with the delicious Sasha Grey - and he eventually had to decide between the pair (what a choice to make!) Sasha Grey coolly warns "she'll only break your heart."

All of this emotional action takes place between sizzling sex scenes that are beautifully filmed and very erotic. Sasha Grey and Stoya are two of the most gorgeous women in porn and if you like the lithe, languid, pale look you'll be in heaven watching them work their erotic magic.

Ultimately, though, it's a little difficult to really grab what's going on and you get a feeling that the writer of the movie (although 'writing' is called 'concept' in the credits, which is always a bad sign) didn't quite follow through with the erotic promise behind the premise.

It's certainly 'hot' because it features two of my most favorite actresses in some beautifully shot scenes - but lacks that certain je ne sais quois that would have made it truly special.
