When I first saw this book, I was drawn to it for my partner who loves reading erotica. However, when it arrived in my mailbox, I realized that this was (mostly) not erotica or porn, but a more candid, practical collection of writings around about the sex world. Don't let that keep you from giving it a try; I found it really interesting. It's a great bedtime read, pick a story or two depending on your mood - weird sex laws, the evolution of sexual organs, etc. I found them to be highly educational. My partner even enjoyed a different nightly read than the saucy erotica she typically takes in.

The book has everything from breastfeeding to swingers to underage sexting, the thinnest condom ever and sex work to the thrill of voyeurism and the story of X-rated Tijuana bibles, Best Sex Writing 2010 covers the latest, hottest topics from the world of sex. Whatever your sexual preference, I think you will find something in the book for you and you will likely be exposed to some new ideas and information. To give you an idea on the variety of topics in the book, here are a few of the chapter titles: "Secrets of the Phallus: Why Is the Penis Shaped Like That?", "Sex Surrogates: Put Personal Touch on Therapy", "Loving Lesbians" or "A Cunning Linguist."

I highly recommend this great book. It's fun and playful, serious and inquisitive, there really is something for everyone! The subjects are presented in a way that is non-threatening and are discussed in a frank, clever, witty way. I am a lesbian reader and even the talk about the phallus didn't turn me off. Great group of writers and serious props to the editor for pulling these pieces together. Buy this book and enjoy!

I remember being similarly confused the first time I read this book: I expected it to be erotica, and it turned out to be a collection of well-written essays on various sex topics! I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the initial confusion though I agree that it's a very good read.

I want to get this as I am very interesting in reading anything related to sex, whether it is educational or erotica.

Thanks for the review, I had thought this would be erotica too. It does sound very interesting though, I may need to check it out.
