Sex everyday? Yes please!

I loved that it's not hetero-only positions either. There isn't much description and some positions look a little difficult, but half the fun of this book is figure it out and writing your own description. This book can very much be made your own sex play book. It'd be a great little book to give as a gift to a new couple. Plus it's small and can be hidden easy and lists lots of new positions.

About author

The Position of the Day Playbook was put together by nerve.com, which is the only intelligent magazine about sex and culture for women and men. Nerve has been publishing articles and pictures since 1997 and has been described as "Playboy's body with the New Yorker's brain" and has won several awards.

Content / Style / Audience

When I got this book, I wasn't expecting, well, an actual playbook. I figured it would be a bunch of positions with descriptions and whatnot much like I see in my Cosmo magazines. But it is very much a playbook that you can add notes to. There is a page for every day of the year, even February 29th for leap years! I guess they remembered that just because a day only happens once every four years doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy it! There is also very little writing. It would be a bit more helpful if there was more description on some of the positions, as they seem a little difficult to pull off. But you do have a large notes sections, so I suppose you're supposed to fill that out yourself. I do find most of the names to be pretty funny (Like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure).

Another thing I didn’t notice at first, but did after looking through it more, is that each position isn’t always depicted as a male-female couple. There are several male-male and female-female couples shown in some positions and I even saw one group position (March 17th – The Out of Town Guests). So don’t feel that if you’re not in a heterosexual couple that this book is not for you. I was very impressed that they would do that. Here is an example of a male-male position that you can find in the Playbook.

Design

The book over all is a small paperback with a very simple color scheme; red, black, and white. The dimensions of the book are 7?x5?x1?. It’s not a itty bitty book, but it’s definitely small enough to stick in your bed side table away from prying eyes. Each page has the date at the top followed by the title of the position and then a large picture of the position.

Each position also lists amount of calories burned for both him and her. Thought it doesn’t say how long you have to do it, heh bad pun, to burn that many so I would assume an hour. Some positions also list equipment and hazards. There is very little writing and no description of the positions. However, there is a large section to write your own notes for each position. There is also a place to rate each position (Below Average, Average, Above Average, and Whoa!) Here is a sample page from inside the book.
    • Diagrams / photos included
    • Not very discreet cover

Personal comments

When I had ordered the book originally, I was dating a guy and he suggested I order it. Before I had received the book he broke up with me, so I felt like it was a little useless to me then. After looking through it though, I realized that it was still a good buy and I will use it at some point in time.
Follow-up commentary
Since I am recently single again, I think it’s my goal to find a new partner who is willing to go through the Playbook with me. I think it’s a great simple guide, but if you’re really looking for a detailed guide for new positions, it’d be best to try elsewhere.

This is more of a satire than a serious guide. God bless Nerve.

Some of the positions in this book make me giggle. I'd have to do some serious working out to do some of them.
