Sexy Book But Casts A Negative Light On BD/SM..

Fifty shades of grey is (514 page) book about a complicated relationship, romance and sex. However it does put BD/SM in a negative light implying something is wrong with you if you live this way of life. This book is definitely geared toward women because it paints our dreams and sometimes unrealistic expectations in men.

When I cracked open fifty shades and read I will be honest I loved it but if you’re looking for “dirty” erotica type books then this isn’t it. E.L James didn’t use any dirty words during her sex scenes. The sex scenes in this book aren’t raunchy or what’s typical of erotica (I read erotica). It also plays BD/SM in a negative light because Christian seems to think he’s a monster and keeps it very secretive. It’s a romance meets sex type book. The BD/SM sex scenes of this book aren’t really that rough either. There is no dirty talking in this book. It’s basically somewhat kinky sex without the really “descriptive” words. There isn’t a sex scene till page 90. I wasn’t expecting romance in this book and I received it. E.L James basically describes the dream guy every woman wants but he’s into BD/SM.

Christian Grey is attractive, rich and assertive. I can see why this was a best seller and why so many women have read this book. Another thing; yes, there is a lot of sex in this book but it isn’t all about sex. It’s about Anastasia and Christians relationship too. This book is copyrighted in 2011 and is 514 pages long. E.L James does paint Christian as a dark individual who was traumatized as a child. E.L James then attributes that to him being into BD/SM and being a dom. Hence I say it paints BD/SM in a negative light. I like the romance and the sex in this book but I don’t like the implication that something has to be wrong with you to choose this way of life.

I could not put down this book however and developed a huge crush on a fictitious character. I just adore Christian Grey. Hey now don’t pick on me. Christian Grey is the assertive, strong, masculine man and Anastasia is the vulnerable young woman who he warns away. If you’re someone looking for a book about a complicated relationship, romance and good sex thrown in (without descriptive words) then this is it. For those who are into a book about hard core BD/SM then I would look elsewhere because the roughest part is when Christian takes a belt to Anastasia or spanks her (If you can call that rough). If you’re looking for dirty, hardcore erotica than this is not it because the sex is not dirty or descriptive enough. That being said I love this book and will be getting book two. This is a book geared toward women obviously (sorry guys).
