Steam-typical-romance is more like it.

I couldn't finish this book. If I read one more story about reunited lovers or unrequited love with a backdrop of steampunk, I was going to scream. I like my erotica just like my sex, rough and kinky. This is neither.

Most stories have a lot of the same plot. Feels more like a romance book than erotica.

About author

This is an anthology edited by Kristina Wright. She has edited quite a few anthologies and written erotica. There are fifteen different authors included in this book. Each of them basically have the same style and tell the same 3 different stories.

Content / Style / Audience

Normally I break down every story with a short synopsis, but in this case I don't need to. The same plots are used over and over again. The stories all feel like romance stories that had some sex thrown in as an after thought rather than sexy erotic stories.

Plot one:
Lovers are separated because of something or some kind of misunderstanding. They find out that they still love each other and have sex.

Plot two:
Someone makes a machine to get to the other person. They admit how they feel about each other during sex.

Plot three:
A person is in love with someone and thinks they have no shot. They think that the object of their affection is in love with someone else. They aren't. The admit their feeling and have sex.

Seriously. That is the book. Over and over and over again. Actually, I can't say that. I got 2/3rds through this book and couldn't continue reading it. It was driving me insane. I hated this book from the first story, but tried to make myself finish it.

Also, every story I read in this is also hetero, so if that isn't your thing, this isn't the book for you.

Personal comments

Cleis press makes well constructed books. I am never easy on my erotica books, but they always hold up really well. Now, they never make discreet covers for their erotica, so be warned.
Follow-up commentary
I am stuck with this thing. I love my friends too much to hand it off to them, but I refuse to read it again. It's just not sexy at all. It's too sweet for me and formulaic.
