Love and Other Mishaps by Digital Playground - review by tim1724

This is a mainstream porn movie, aimed at heterosexual couples, with a plot linking together the sex scenes. The plot itself is rather thin, and pretty inconsequential to the film as a whole, but it does manage to link together the various sex scenes. If you demand a comprehensive storyline in your porn, then this title isn't for you.

Not only is the writing bland and uninteresting, the dialog can at times be hard to make out as the actors mumble their way through it. But in my opinion, you can (and probably should) just ignore the story completely and enjoy the sex scenes. At least four of the five scenes are quite good.

Female cast: Stoya, Sasha Grey, Nicole Ray
Male cast: Christian, Mick Blue, Tony De Sergio, Scott Nails, Mr. Pete

Scene 1: Stoya and Tony De Sergio
This was probably my favorite scene. Stoya and Tony have great chemistry, and both look great in this scene. There's an interesting use of bright lighting and white sets here, which really emphasizes Stoya's pale skin. The starkness of the set encourages you to keep your eyes focused on the action, which is plenty hot as Stoya sucks Tony's gorgeous cock, then rides him energetically. I love the end of the scene, when Tony blows his load all over Stoya's hot black bush. My only complaints were that their voices were hard to make out, and that this scene was shorter than I'd like, at only 12 minutes or so.

Scene 2: Sasha Grey and Mick Blue
Sasha Grey's scene is similar to Stoya's first, with a similar bright white set. I always enjoy Sasha's scenes, and this is no exception. She does a great job of swallowing Mick's giant dick, and her energetic fucking is a joy to observe. The way she moves her hips when she's on top of Mick is truly hypnotic.

Scene 3: Stoya and Mr. Pete
Stoya's second scene is a bit awkward at first, but gets better. Whereas the first scene put Stoya in a bright white room, where only her dark hair stood out, here she's in a dark room contrasting her pale white skin. There's some truly athletic sex here, from the various standing positions to the way Mr. Pete carries Stoya across the room while she's still impaled on his cock. There's great chemistry between the two, and you can almost feel how excited Stoya is to be fucking this guy.

Scene 4: Nicole Ray and Scott Nails
This is the weakest scene in the movie. It doesn't really matter that it's not tied into the plot, which had lost me by this point anyway; the problem is that the scene lacks any chemistry. With no reason for the scene to be here, and nothing very exciting going on, it's boring by comparison. Don't get me wrong; it's not a horrible scene. This extremely formulaic scene is just not up to the standard set by the rest of the movie. It feels like they just wanted to have one scene with someone who didn't look like Stoya and Sasha, so they found a blond with a shaved pussy, but didn't put much thought into making the scene itself interesting.

Scene 5: Stoya and Christian
Luckily the final scene brings us back to Stoya, who provides a third great performance, with energetic sex in all sorts of positions, even a vertical 69 as Christian holds her upside down in front of him. Stoya thoroughly enjoys herself with Christian.

This release has a pretty standard lineup of features: chapter index, a selection of trailers, a photo gallery, and a short behind the scenes featurette. The BTS was fun to watch, and is a bit more in-depth than many, but it's still pretty short.

The box is quite attractive, with good photos identifying the female performers on the back. (As usual, no mention of the male cast.)

I enjoyed Sasha Grey's scene, and all of Stoya's scenes. Nicole Ray is quite pretty and she can hold her own in a typical porn scene, but she just can't measure up to the other two when it comes to making sex scenes sizzle. Putting her up against the two stars with no other female talent was an unfortunate misstep, as it just makes her look bad in comparison to the other two and doesn't add much to the film.

I have the Blu-ray version of this title, which has some pretty amazing visuals. The audio is somewhat muddled, but given the unimportance of the dialog in this film, it's not a big deal.
