My husband and I watched the Joy of Erotic Massage|The Joy of Erotic Massage once without actually attempting to follow along; then on another night we assembled our materials and tried to follow along with the video ourselves.   The DVD is well-made.

The nude couples shown massaging one another are reasonably attractive, normal people; and a lot of attention has been paid to the environment, lighting, props, music, and voiceover. A deep-voiced man describes what you should do to your partner while the couples demonstrate the same actions. You do hear the couples breathing, and at one point one of woman speaks. You also hear and see them orgasm as the erotic massage does its job.

I liked the DVD. The music and voiceovers were not annoying on the second viewing. In fact, the deep-voiced man had a rather sexy tone. The French woman who introduced the video was attractive and very matter-of-fact. I felt they spent just a bit too long on the whole introductory sequence, but that's a minor quibble. When it comes to trying to do what they were doing in the DVD, they went too fast for us to actually follow along in the bedroom.

For example, they would show only one arm being massaged, with the implication that you'd also massage the other arm--but not leaving time during the video for you to actually do it. However, the whole massage sequence is long enough that you will get a nice massage out of the deal even if you try to follow along--just don't expect to keep up.

The massage techniques|Nina Hartley's Guide to Erotic Massage were very effective from my point of view. For my husband, the torso massage was less effective than massaging the extremities, but it's a personal preference. The only parts of the body they didn't massage were the anus and the armpits. Every other inch of the body is covered during the video, with at least one and sometimes more than one massage stroke or technique. I definitely learned a couple of new techniques from watching the video, and all of them were wonderful to receive.
The bonus features on the DVD were also interesting. There’s a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the DVD and another long section extolling the wonders of Tantric sex|Tantric Sex for Women. It was enlightening and also sexy, though the couples were not as attractive as in the massage portion. They were definitely enjoying themselves. Note that they were actually having sex, shown in full body not just head and shoulders, and in some cases experiencing orgasm. It was a nice selection of people enjoying themselves.

I highly recommend this DVD. Both of you will have lots of fun finding out which parts you like best. I didn’t orgasm just from following along with the DVD, but I came very close. My husband also got near, but did not achieve orgasm. That’s OK, we had good fun with what came after.
