Dita Stripteese - erotic art by Harper Collins - review by LucyLemonade

This is not one book, but a "faux" book created in a diary style with a little purple ribbon holding it together. Inside the the book are 3 little flip-books. There is no actual writing in the book other than the small back page that is packed inside the wrapping. It describes the book in general and Dita herself.

Dita Stripteese is a novelty style trio of flip-books that portray some of Dita's signature dances. The little books can be used like traditional flip-books to create a sense of a moving picture which is reminiscent of a more retro style.

The "faux book" is very feminine and charming with it's deep purple ribbon binding it together and a bit of matching velvet material as the "pages". A striking picture of Dita graces the back cover and the front has a trompe-l'oeil effect of sequins and beading similar to a burlesque costume. Dita Stripteese is a really cute book overall in it's appearance. The title on the front page has flocking in the font.

The only issue I have is with the flip-books. The books are rather small and hard to hold and be able to flip fluid enough to make Dita dance. The horizontal formatted ones work a lot better than the vertical format. But sadly the vertical book includes the gorgeous birdcage dance. I would have preferred larger books for ease of flipping, and to really be able to see her gorgeous body up close.

The photography is beautiful in these little books, which makes me wish they were bigger so I could see the little details of her costumes and of course those curves! My favorites are the "Martini Glass" flip-book and the "Birds of Paradise" book. Dita is just breath-taking in these little books, though I prefer the larger format to truly appreciate the costumes and make-up.

I think this book would be the perfect gift for any fan of burlesque and especially any fans of Dita Von Teese in general. It is charming in it's simplicity and sexy without having to offer full nudity.
