Wild Side Sex: The Book of Kink opens a window, or dungeon bars, to the world of SM, D/s, M/s, fetishism, and every kinky thing in between. Midori proves to be a tantalizing guide as her beautifully crafted words lick the depths of the sexual cultures she considers "kink." She wanders through many topics and voices, making her book a blending of erotica, sociology, psychology, and history.

Midori does not limit her content to merely address beginners or advanced practitioners. She covers the entire spectrum of kink experience in a very personal, blunt, and honest way. Her approach to the subjects makes them easy to consider and relate to, as her beautiful and vivid language manifests the sexuality inherent qualities in all of them. Her words echo an open mind advocating everyone's pursuit of their true desires, despite what they may be, and hopes to elicit the same from her readers about the kink she discusses.

Wild Side Sex: The Book of Kink wanders sensually through the dynamics of the SM, D/s, and M/s communities, as well as numerous fetishes. Midori reminisces through her own development in all of her kink experiences. She allows you to walk her path, letting your understanding build gradually and firmly. Yet, she does not focus merely on the sexual aspect in all of the subcultures. She creates a balanced, well rounded, multi-faceted glimpse of her world, making it both easier to relate to and be tolerant of. Midori brings the humanity and emotion to a world misconstrued as merely sexual deviance.

Through her outstanding sociological as well as psychological examinations and insights, Midori devotes multiple sections to analyzing the different portions of kink. She examines and explains everything from dominance to erotic humiliation, objectification to chastity play. She demonstrates such knowledge in not only the communities she is discussing, but people and behavior in general her credibility builds with each page. She labels perversion/kink as a sexual orientation rather than a behavior, bringing it to a more personal and understandable level.

The first two sections of the Wild Side Sex: The Book of Kink penetrate the fundamentals of the kink community, portraying the beauty of the relationships as well as confronting the negatives and realities of the lifestyles. The second section explores fetishism, mostly Midori's personal ones. She gives a relatable voice to nonsexual obsession. The final section rounds out the book by including a series of question/answer advice columns. Much of her advice throughout can apply to all sexual relationships; it is emotional and universal.

Though I do not find myself into most of the "hardcore" kink Midori discusses, I found the book utterly fascinating. She did caress many topics that teased at the sexuality in my mind. An entire section devoted to safe practices for public sex stimulated my thoughts into fantasies of scenarios. Her detailed descriptions of the different types of rope to use in bondage had phantom restraints tickling my limbs. The mention of erotic photography shook my desire to my trembling center.

Midori teases and massages endless components of the kink world through her sexy words. While I found the grammatical errors in the book distracting and some of the sections outdated, there was still a sensual wealth of information and stimulation in her pages.
