Will You Be My Little Pony?

Carrie's Story was a very interesting introduction to the world of BDSM for me. I feel the quality of the writing is very high, with plenty of input from Carrie, whether it is her enjoyment, confusion, or fear. The book is also put together very well with good quality pages. Due to the subjects of this book, including slavery, pony play, and humiliation, this may not be an enjoyable read for everyone.

extremely useful review
Normally, when I think of buying a sex-themed book, I go for the educational ones. I can honestly say I have never read an erotic novel, let alone one with an S/M theme, before. Even though I am a complete newbie to them, I found this book pretty interesting and enjoyable.

Carrie’s Story, written by Molly Weatherfield, is a 198 page paperback. The cover artwork shows a girl on her knees with chains going down to her wrists, with her dress skirt pushed up so her butt is hanging out. The picture is black and white with a blue tint to it. Over that, there is “Carrie’s Story, an erotic s/m novel.” The back cover has a basic summary of what can be found within the pages, as well as a few brief reviews. The pages feel like they are of much higher quality than the typical paperback book. None of the text smeared at all while I was reading this, even when I turned the page with some water on my finger. The font is pretty clear and easy to read.

Because of the cover artwork on this, it may not be appropriate to read the book out in public, unless the front cover is covered up with some paper or a book cover or something. Other than that, there isn’t like “ASS” in huge letters on some pages or something, so unless someone is reading over your shoulder, no one will know what this is.

Carrie’s Story is about a young woman named Carrie who is being introduced into the world of S/M. This is read in first-person as Carrie. It starts out at “present time,” when Carrie is a slave working for Jonathan. It continues in the present time for a while, giving the reader a good idea of how their relationship works. There are some flash backs of Carrie’s past, such as how she met Jonathan, different conversations they have had, and some history with her friends. Not too long into the book, Jonathan mentions putting Carrie up for auction. Most of the events in the book occur within a secret kind of underground community that seems to be mostly made up of obscenely rich people.

Carrie’s relationship with Jonathan is just basically acting as a slave, though I felt he seemed to be much kinder to her than later masters/mistresses were to her. They use props such as collars, chains, canes, corsets, nipple clamps and whips. Jonathan displays her at a few close get-togethers that are very briefly mentioned.

After Jonathan brings up the subject of an auction, the book picks up a lot with more descriptions of beatings and sex. He brings home “Muffies” who are forced to use Carrie. He also begins a more rigorous training with her to better prepare her for the auction. After a visit from an old friend, he sends Carrie off to a farm to be trained as a human pony.
On the farm, Carrie is worked pretty hard and trained to act as a horse. All of the stablemen treat her and other girls exactly like they would horses; doing things like feeding her, training her to properly walk, trot, and canter, and even making her pull carts of people around the countryside. She is also forced to please all of the stablemen who want her after she is put in her stall.

After this training, Carrie goes through just a little bit more training with Jonathan, and prepares for the auction. Once she arrives in Europe, she is taken to a pretty high tech slave auction house, where she is thoroughly examined and trained a bit more before going before customers. This last bit of the book contains a lot more forced sex from strangers than the rest. She is pretty much forced to please complete strangers, and looks on as a guy is forced to please 20 men within a few minutes. I felt the ending of the book was pretty good. It makes you sit and think for a while, wondering where Carrie ends up, who she ends up working with, and what happens to the other characters. Thankfully, there is a sequel entitled “Safe Word,” which I have not yet read, detailing Carrie’s life with her new master.

Included in this book is a lot of forced sex and sex play with things like dildos. Those who do not feel comfortable with the idea of forced sex play would not enjoy this book. Carrie also spends quite a good deal of this novel humiliated by at least one person , as well as crying, so again, those who don’t like that kind of thing may not enjoy this.

Experience
While the front cover states this is an erotic novel, it is not overly descriptive in the sex scenes. Typically, a whole sex scene takes up half a page to a page. It seems to be more about the connection she has with people, as well as describing the world around her and her feelings. A clear description of Carrie isn’t ever really given, though there are good descriptions of other characters.

I’m not experienced in BDSM, so I can’t really speak for how accurate or safe the actions in the book are. Throughout it, though, Carrie cries a lot, especially when she is whipped or is penetrated anally. The author does not say whether or not any of the anal penetrations included any lube, though I feel they probably did not. She did, though, describe that all dildos were “greased” for use. For those who are interested in enacting scenes in the book, you will want to first figure out how to do so without seriously hurting yourself.

One thing that kind of surprised me is the fact that Carrie has pubic hair and does not trim it. Whenever I see or read anything sexual, any women involved are always completely shaven or waxed. It was nice to see some embrace for those who prefer to trim or just go natural.

Overall, I felt this book was pretty well written. It didn’t have the feel of the cheap romance novels some of my friends enjoy reading. There were references to literature and art that just made this feel much more like a college girl named Carrie interested in literature actually wrote this. While no, I don’t feel I would ever enjoy any of the activities mentioned in Carrie’s Story, I did enjoy reading about them.
Follow-up commentary
I haven't read this book again since I first read it. I do plan on reading it again when I get the second book, though. I honestly feel like this book has changed my perspective on the BDSM community. Really just knowing more about it makes it feel less scary and new.
