The Book Of Massage written by Lucinda Lidell is a detailed and easy to follow book for those looking to learn more about performing a proper massage on others. Although labeled as a massage book you will find much more information is covered in the book including: finding and creating the perfect environment for giving a massage, using oils, reflexology, body reading and of course the many different types of massage you can perform and in which situation to perform them.

I purchased this book in order to learn how to give my wife not only a better massage but a proper massage and The Book Of Massage has accomplished that and more. With plenty of illustrations and full colour pictures The Book Of massage would be perfect for those looking to get started in massage (like myself) or as a bedside reference for those who already know the basics of massage but may need a quick refresher on proper techniques from time to time.

This book has been written primarily as a textbook and because of this I found the writing style to be dry and without humour. Although the material contained within the book is somewhat dry in nature I still found a few interesting segments of information that held me interested instead of bored. Sections like this were few and far between though and if you are looking for a page turner this book isn't' it. If you are looking for a no nonsense reference book that leads you on a journey into understanding massage and in turn able to not only give a proper massage to you partner but even perform a self massage than The Book Of Massage is exactly what you need to add to your library.

Although strictly a massage book, you may wish to be careful as to where you leave this book laying around as some of the illustrations and photos in this book do include full frontal and back nudity.

This is a well put together book that allows the information to flow from beginning to end in a manner that makes sense. With plenty of illustration and colour photos to look the information you are searching for is easy to grasp and retain. The font of this book is set larger than most and because of this allows you to leave the book on the bed while working on your partner and still be able to glance over and read the book without having to pick up the book effectively killing the massage.

The techniques in The Book Of Massage are easy to grasp and the author has done a wonderful job of ensuring that the instructions and illustration are easy to follow. We were also pleasantly surprised at finding a small section on maternity massage as we are expecting.

We have successfully been able to incorporate the techniques found within this book into our massage routine without any trouble.
