A Golden Touch

A massage oil with 24 karat gold flakes from Lelo, a well-known high end company, is elegantly packaged for you to enjoy. The scent I don’t particularly care for, but the oils are great for a massage or skin moisturizer. Would be great to give as a gift.

Use

LELO Flickering Touch Massage Oil is great for massages, but can also be used to keep your skin moisturized. It contains 4 ounces of oils with gold. I don’t notice the gold flakes, but it still makes my skin feel soft. The oil is available in three different scents: Spicy Clove & Amber, Fresh Lily & Musk, and Balsam Fir & Bergamot. I chose the Fresh Lily & Musk, and I don’t care for the scent all that much. I’ll explain more below.

This product is not designed to be used as a personal lubricant, and it is not edible. If you are concerned about irritation, here are the ingredients: prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, vitis vinifera (grapeseed) oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, benzyl salicylate, linalool, d-limonene, gold powder.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The pump cap dispenses about a teaspoon of oil, which comes out easily, and gives your hands a nice glide. It can be a little runny, so I recommend laying down if you plan on doing massages. It will absorb quickly, but the scent will linger for a couple of hours.

The oil washes off easily with soap and warm water if you find you don’t like the smell, or if there’s simply too much oil on your skin.

    • Thin

Taste / Aroma

The Fresh Lily and Musk is a very rich scent. To me it smells like a light aftershave cream or cologne, and that’s just something I’m not comfortable wearing. I was disappointed to find that it wasn’t musky or sweet in any way. This scent is definitely not feminine, and I think a lot of men would enjoy this.

Performance

This performs well as a massage oil. Give the bottle a good shake before using, which will allow the gold flakes to disperse. Even though it contains gold flakes, they are barely noticeable. The oil shimmers, but when glided on your skin, there’s no flakes or anything that would feel rough on your skin.

The oil is thin and light, so it won’t make your skin feel greasy or heavy. It makes the skin feel soft and nicely moisturized.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Reapply often

Packaging

The oil comes in a cute black box with instructions in five languages, and an ingredients list. The oil is in a purple glass bottle with a ring cap, so the dispenser isn’t fully enclosed. It doesn’t leak, and the bottle easily stays upright. The bottle looks just like a perfume bottle, so I just discarded the packaging. It would be great to give as a gift and looks very luxurious.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I didn’t enjoy the scent so I gave it to a friend, but I will love to try the other scents to see if I like them better. The oils did not irritate my skin at all. This is a nice product that I would recommend if you like massages, and not looking for feminine scents.
Follow-up commentary
I ended up giving this massage oil away because the scent was just too weird for me. I'm a little nervous about trying another one just because they are so expensive, and I would hate to dislike another one. It's a great oil though, so if you are thinking about trying it, I say go for it.

    • Is this product ok for someone with oily skin that breaks out easily?

I've actually been using it every day as a moisturizer (I get dry skin in winter)and it has no bad effects on my skin. It cleans off easy and doesn't leave you feeling greasy afterwards so I don't think it will leave much residue to block your pores.
    • I've got all three of them and yes!!! I've got weirdly oily skin in some places and very dry skin in others.

Lelo oil is the only moisturiser I've been able to use daily after my shower that doesn't make my skin drip with oil, doesn't feel like it coats my skin, and makes my skin feel sooooooo good!!! The scent is not strong and works with my perfume not masking it or changing the scent.

This being said, I feel that the spicy clove and amber one is the strongest scent out of all three (but not in a bad way if that makes sense) and not something I'd recommend for the summer.

I've used all of the Burt's Bee's line, Ocean Potion Original and the Hemp Seed lotion, countless after sun's, and countless other products designed for oily and combination skin from name brands to dollar store types and everything in between. Last year I switched to using just olive oil as a moisturiser in the winter and had some good results, but I couldn't stand how it smelt.

Then I tried the Lelo oil... and WOW!!! My skin has been so thankful!!! I have found that on the underside of my breasts, I have to be careful to not apply too much and to rub in a little bit extra, or make sure I let my skin dry completely before putting on clothes.

And on that note, I am off to write a review for Lelo oils.

I haven't tried the candle yet, but I imagine so, I really love this oil apart from the mild scent.
    • It certainly looks luxurious

Yes. Parabens always show up in the ingredients list.

    • I'm usually not one for massage oil. I have weird issues about things like that. But holy cow that is one amazing container and I'm tempted to buy it because of that!

Great job LELO, as expected; you guys are amazing at designing packaging!

Anyone else added this to their wishlist yet?
