A little chunky, a little white... but not in the good way

This product works pretty well to freshen you up, and soak up natural oils or product that weights you down. Leaves you feeling cleaner and more put together, and is great for a last minute touch up. However, it gets everywhere, and is far too pale and powdery to look natural in my fine hair.

Use

For those days when you just don't have time to shower or you just need a little touch up this powder will help you out! This dry shampoo will soak up any natural excess oils of your hair, or excess product, and leave you feeling lighter and with more body. It's great for on the go, much quicker than a shower, and if you have the time to work it in, you'll look and feel much cleaner. However, I have found that inadequate time working this product into your hair will leave you with white dots all over your scalp, or with pinhead sized powder balls that will look like some serious dandruff later in the day. It really does leave you feeling and smelling better. A great use is after being in a restaurant, I often feel like my hair smells like fried food if I've been anywhere near a fri-o-lator. Just sprinkle some in your hand and gently work into all layers of hair, focusing on scalp until all the powder is blended into your hair. Ideally you shouldn't look like you're Marie Antoinette, but it's happened quite a bit to me. My hair gets too big after I work it all in, and the powder is soo white that it's nearly impossible to blend it completely with your hair.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The first ingredient for this powder is corn starch, and that is mostly what this feels like; very dry and incredibly fine. The hundreds of tiny clumps that will fall on your sink, shirt and face will be impossible to get off entirely, wearing a black sweater when putting this on is a nightmare. It also takes forever to work into your hair because it is so prone to tiny clumps. It also comes out a little quickly and will leave dusty tiny explosions if the bottle is even lightly squeezed or tapped down on the counter. It's a bit of a mess to apply and clean up after, and if you get some on your scalp it feels very dry and a little itchy. The Ingredients are:
Zea Mays (Corn) startch, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ale Barbedensis Leaf Juice, Organic Chamomille Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Organic Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, Tocobiol.

Taste / Aroma

This product has a light slightly floral scent, but it is mild and smells very clean, like a faint laundry detergent or shampoo. It is unobtrusive and pleasant, like flowers.

Performance

This dry shampoo does help for times when you need a quick fix, or are just feeling lazy, but there are better dry shampoos out there. This one was a little too clumpy and a little too white to work for my hair (and I'm fairly golden blonde) but unless you are nearly bleached, this will probably be too light for you as well. It lasted for about 8 hours before I feel the need to touch up. It also just makes you feel clean and fresh if you haven't been able to shower for a little while. It's a good overall hygiene band-aid, worked o.k. but I'm not raving about anything here. Left me a little itchy on my scalp, gets all over my bathroom and my clothing, and it leaves me looking like I have ghost hair if I miss a spot anywhere. Also, a little like paper mache on your head when showering it out.

Follow-up commentary
Since writing this review, I have died my hair golden brown. This product no longer works for me at all. If you are anything less that uber blonde, this is not for you. It is also still too chunky and too hard to blend into your hair to work really well.
