Shunga's "aphrodisiac oil" is actually a water-based warming lubricant. Unlike some lubes that only warm when blown on the Shunga brand seems to warm from the time it hits contact with the skin. This makes it great for warming massages. This particular lubricant doesn't contain any sugars so it's safe for oral sex with both genders making it great for couples of all kinds. Try it along the thighs, back, neck and groin for best results.

I personally like it on my hands and I also find it's great for going solo as you do not need a partner to blow on it for it to warm up. The lack of stickiness also makes it easier to clean up without someone else checking you for sticky spots. Just be careful as going it alone also means you might miss drips that may stain fabric.

I really like the texture of this lube. It's slick and thick, sort of like room temperature honey only without the stickiness. It coats evenly before breaking into little colorful pools as it settles. On vertical surfaces it drips beautifully down the skin leaving colored trails wherever it lands.

The only failing point about Shunga's aphrodisiac oil has to be the flavor and scent. I have the grape version and it tastes a lot like the same grape flavor you find in cough syrup, minus the medicine taste. The smell is equally fake and reminds me of children's grape scented perfume. It's not horrible, but it's not a true grape in the least.

Yes, the grape flavor smells and tastes only so-so, but the general performance makes up for it. The honey-like viscosity feels wonderful on the skin and while it's being rubbed and played with. It drips, but it drips slowly and can be used to very elegant effect. The color is easy to spot on the skin and makes finding areas to rub/lick easy. My only worry is that the color might stain fabric so be careful where it drips.

The warming is the best part. As I mentioned earlier, it warms on skin contact and does not stop until washed away. Licking away the lube leaves enough of the warming in the skin that blowing on it will reactivate it! It doesn't leave a sticky residue when licked away and washes away from skin nicely.

The bottle and it's case are beautiful. I ended up saving the metal case as a keepsake due to the beautiful shunga art on it's outside. It's nice enough to leave out in the open! The glass bottle with the traditional style stopper are very classy and give a real feel of substance to what's inside. Sadly, I think these nice touches are part of why it's so expensive, but you get what you pay for in this case so it's worth it!

Due to the very basic bottle design it is possible to make a huge mess. Remove the stopper and pour slowly and carefully to avoid spreading too much lube around.

The warming and beautiful packaging are the two major selling points in this lube.

I have never seen a lube warm as nicely or last as long as Shunga. It can be intense sometimes, so I'd advise keeping some wet cloths around in case the heat is too much. The elegant bottle and beautiful case are very classy. It's a real breath of fresh air in comparison to the cheap, clunky plastic bottles other companies use.

Shunga was going for a classy and classic feel with it's products and succeeded. It's one of the few times I have actually felt that I got more than my money's worth out of a lubricant. As long as you don't mind how anachronistic the packaging is you are in for a lovely treat. As a bonus, the bottle is recyclable, provided you don't like it enough to keep it.

I had been working the Shunga aphrodisiac Oil up and down his skin, licking and blowing as I went.
