The Jimmyjane Special Edition Afterglow candles are a luxurious treat for a special night. They are perfect for those evenings when you just want to take your time and enjoy a romantic evening together. It would also work great for setting the scene for a nice relaxing bath for one, followed by a little self indulgent warm body oil massage.

Of all the massage candles I've tried, I love Jimmyjane's the best! The warm oil glides beautifully over the skin, and feels amazing. It's not too greasy or too slick and doesn't soak in too quickly, but it does soak in eventually. Leaving the skin feeling incredibly soft. I feel they are better than many top quality massage oils.


According to Jimmyjane, these candles are made of a proprietary formula that contains:

Jojoba, a hydratin ester that provides all day moisture that won't evaporate from the skin.

Shea Butter, loaded with fatty acids, it boosts skin elasticity, promotes circulation, and protects against UV rays.

Vitamin E, This antioxidant helps neutralize the body's free radicals, protecting skin at the cellular level.

Soy, rich in phytoestrogens and amino acids, this natural moisturizer promotes cell regeneration and evens out skin tone

Aloe, has five naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents to moisturize and calm the skin.

These candles are completely body safe and have no parabens, phthalates, sulfates or petrochemicals. They are clean burning, paraffin free and lead free, with natural cotton wicks.

The Afterglow Special Edition massage candles have two scents that are supposed to "intertwine to engage and delight the senses". I have the Truffle and Gardenia scented candle. Which to me smells like soap. If I put the candle right up to my nose and try really hard, I can smell a faint floral scent. It's really not a bad scent, though personally, I wouldn't exactly consider it a sensual fragrance. It is a nice clean scent that shouldn't interfere with any other fragrances you or your partner might be wearing. This candle gives off enough scent to fill the room with a light fragrance, though not in an overpowering way.

Each Afterglow candle comes in a square porcelain container with a pour spout. Just light the candle and wait about 30 minutes for enough oil to melt for your massage. Once you have enough oil just blow out the candle and pour a little onto the skin, taking care not to pour too much. A little goes a long way with this oil. Jimmyjane says that this candle can last up to 32 hours of burn time. Of course, that is if you only use it as a candle. Using it as a massage oil will reduce that time significantly. But it does still last quite a long time. We have used ours twice already and we still have most of it left.

I really didn't feel that you needed to wash this off after use. It does a nice job of eventually sinking into the skin, leaving it feeling wonderfully soft. It also didn't seem to do any damage to my bedding afterward, so I would say it's safe for most fabrics.

Jimmyjanes packaging is nothing if not classy and discreet. The candle comes with a white and gray outer wrapper with a wide pink satin ribbon that can be tied into a bow for gift giving. Under that wrapper is a nice box with a picture of the candle and some instructions on usage. Inside you find the candle and a small instruction booklet.

As far as massage candles go, Jimmyjane makes my favorite. I love the way they feel compared to any others I've tried. And I love how long they last. They're well worth the money!

But as far a scents go, so far I haven't had much luck. Neither of the two that I own are fragrances that I'm particularly fond of. And I know I would not get either one again. So I'm still on the lookout for just the right fragrance for us.

Both my husband I love playing with these candles. I usually start by giving him a full body massage with the oil. Followed by me pouring it on myself wherever I want him to return the favor. I have to laugh because I'm always afraid it will be too hot when I pour it on myself. But actually it is so nice and warm when it hits the skin that you really don't want to stop pouring it on once you start. Though that would get a bit messy. We don't use these all the time, but they make for a wonderfully fun, romantic, and kind of slick playtime.
