My first vibrator was a knockoff rabbit, with little vibrating ears that barely brushed my clit. The vibrations in that toy were weak and I couldn’t apply any pressure to my clit. It did nothing for me. When shopping for my next vibrator, I decided I needed something a lot more powerful. The Hitachi Magic Wand did not disappoint.

The Hitachi has two settings, but it’s so powerful that I rarely even use the higher setting. In fact, one of my few complaints is that there isn’t a third, lower setting. The vibrations are so intense, the Hitachi leaves me desensitized to other kinds of stimulation. If I use the vibrator on myself and then want to finish with my fingers, I find that I can’t. However, I can usually get myself off with the wand alone, so this hasn’t been too much of a problem. If it takes you a long time to get off, like me, you might notice that the vibrator gets hot with sustained use, but not hot enough to make it uncomfortable to use or hold. It’s also loud, but I live alone, so that doesn’t bother me too much.

The biggest negative point about the Hitachi is that its head is made of vinyl, which is a porous material. I use a condoms on it or use it through my clothes (it’s definitely strong enough!). There are also various silicone attachments available, which make the toy safe to use condom-free. I haven’t tried any of them yet, but I’m dying to try the Gee Whizzard.

The few negatives about the Hitachi are by far outweighed by the positives. The tennis ball sized head is a great size, giving me vibrations over my entire vulva, rather than focusing it all on the clit. The vibrations are strong enough to really feel, even through a blanket or over your jeans. I appreciate a toy that allows me to put pressure on my clit, rather than just sitting back and letting it tickle me ever so lightly, like rabbit-style vibrators. There’s a reason the Hitachi is nicknamed the Cadillac of vibrators!
