Use

The Hitachi magic wand is a versatile vibrator that was originally designed to be a powerful back massager. This back massager was eventually used down below the waist and took off as a powerful sex toy for most women and some men. The magic wand is great for working out the kinks in your neck and back and works wonders with achieving an eruption of orgasms. This vibrator is great for clitoral stimulation and can be used to stimulate men's testicles, though even on the softest setting the vibrations may be too powerful and cause pain to the scrotum. This product is best used externally as the head is a bit too large to fit inside of the vagina or anus (I highly recommend against using this product anally). If you decide to use this to stimulate the g-spot or p-spot, I suggest investing in an attachment that has been made to fit the head of the magic wand. Since this toy needs to be plugged into the wall during use, this is a bedroom only type toy. Do NOT use this in the tub, shower, or pool as it can electrocute you if you're not careful (and not the fun kind of electrocution).

Material / Texture

The magic wand is made of plastic, though the texture of the head differs from the texture of the handle. The head of the hitachi is a bit spongy feeling, though it is not porous. The head rests on a blue piece of plastic that allows the head to flex while in use. The fact that the head is flexible makes it easy to use if you are massaging the muscles of your shoulders or your back. If you are using this product to pleasure the clitoris the flexible head makes it easy to use alone and not worry about if the head is positioned properly along the labia. Trust me, the vibrations are insanely powerful and you might not want to place it directly on the clitoris, so the flexible head can help with positioning the vibrations to where they are not completely overwhelming or overpowering. If you are new to toys and have heard a lot about the magic wand, I'd be cautious and wait a bit before purchasing one of these. The vibrations are insanely powerful and you might not find enjoyment out of it the first few tries. For those who have been using toys for a while, if you have been using toys for a while and are not overly sensitive to strong vibrations I highly recommend the magic wand.

If you suffer from sore muscles and can't find a back massager that is strong enough to help work out the knots you may have without having to consult a massage therapist, I highly recommend the magic wand. On the highest setting, the magic wand is able to work out the kinks and help alleviate back pain as well as shoulder pain. I use my hitachi more for a back massage than I do for clitoral stimulation, though it's quite interesting to use below the waist. If you do suffer from sore muscles, though, I highly recommend the hitachi.
    • Flexible
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the hitachi, with the flexible head and easy to grip plastic handle, is wonderful for those who often struggle to keep a hold of vibrators while using them. The long handle also aids in keeping your arms from stretching too much when using this as a back massager. The hitachi is a bit large, though, and is far from discreet, so if you keep it out it is not inconspicuous. If you decide to travel with this product it is easy to store in a suitcase beneath some clothes. I will advise that if you are traveling with this product internationally you are going to want to invest in an outlet converter so that you do not blow a fuse or ruin the motor in the wand. Again, this product is definitely for more advanced users and those who are not overly sensitive to rather hard vibrations.
    • Partner play

Functions / Performance / Controls

The hitachi is easy to operate and the controls are not hard to find. Along the plastic handle of the hitachi that connects to the power cord is a blue panel with a black switch like button. Before turning the hitachi on, make sure to plug it into the wall. If you don't plug it in, it won't work. To turn the hitachi on and activate the vibrations, slide the switch over once for the lowest setting or twice for the highest setting.

There are two settings for the magic wand, the low setting and high setting better known as "Oh my God" and "HOLY SHIT BATMAN!" The lowest setting is about 5000 rpm and the highest setting is 6000 rpm. That's a lot of power, ladies and gents. Unless you have a clitoris of steel or are a robot you're going to feel these vibrations and they're sure to shake, rattle, and roll your vagina bits throughout your play session. Once you've found the vibration setting you are comfortable with you'll notice that the vibrations are located solely in the head of the hitachi. The handle vibrates a slight bit while the hitachi is in action, but that's to be expected from such hard vibrations that course through the head. I advise against placing the head directly against the clitoris as it can be a bit painful during play, especially on the highest setting. If you place the head along the labia and against the hood of the clitoris you'll reap the benefits and rewards of such a wonderful product.

If you have a roommate or live at home you're not going to want to use the magic wand until you're alone. It is loud and can be heard through the walls. Another thing to remember is that this is not a waterproof toy so don't take it with you for some underwater adventures. If you do, you might be met with a shocking surprise.
    • Easy to use
    • Long lasting power
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

After you've done some magic in the bedroom, clean the hitachi with a warm, wet washcloth and some antibacterial soap or toy cleaner. Make sure not to get the shaft wet down near the power cord. After cleaning the head, dry with a towel, and place it in your dresser drawer or a box to store. When storing, make sure not to bend the cord near the base of the handle as the cord could eventually break and fray, causing the hitachi to no longer work. I'd wrap the cord around the handle for safe keeping just to be sure. Since the head is made of plastic you can use either water based or silicone lubricants with this product.

"Oh my God" and "HOLY SHIT BATMAN!" Hah! This pretty much sums up my initial response to the vibrations of this as well. And I still had my clothes on.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
