Bella Il Fiore fail

With its rather expensive price for such a small size, Bella Il Fiore's "Love Me Tender" travel size hand creme promises luxury and super soft hands. But I honestly could have gotten a bottle twice the size and a third of the price at the dollar store that would have performed better.

Use

Bella Il Fiore's "Love Me Tender" hand creme is the perfect size to slip into your pocket or purse and go. This product is made to soften hands or any other places you might have dry skin. Because this contains glycerin, keep it away from your naughty bits if you're sensitive to that ingredient.

The ingredients are:
Aloe barbadensis leaf extract, octyl palmitate, squalane, glycerin, sorbitol, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, cyclomethicone, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, ceteareth 20, hyaluronic acid, anthemis nobilis (chamomile) flower extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, anica montana flower extract, symphutum officinale (comfrey) rhizome/roof extract, echinacea angustifolia ectract, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, allantion, panthenol, stearic acid, xanthan gum, carbomer, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexglycerin, triethanolamine, fragrance

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The hand creme is white and thick, very much like any other hand lotion. You can easily squeeze it from the plastic tube and it's thick enough that it doesn't run down the skin. It rubs into the skin nicely and feels very velvety at first. After rubbing it in, it did not absorb into my skin and left my palms extremely shiny and my skin greasy (explained more in "Experience" section below).

Taste / Aroma

The scent listed on the bottle is "Almond Coconut", though it does not contain any of those ingredients. While still in the bottle, the hand creme smells really good. After rubbing it into my hands, I could barely detect the subtle scent of coconut. And after a few minutes, that dissipated and the only thing I could smell was shea butter (which is an ingredient). Inside the bottle, the creme barely has a chemical smell. But on the skin, the chemical scent is much stronger. This product smells much better in the bottle than it does on the skin.

This product is meant for external use only; I did not taste this, neither should you.
    • Bad smell on skin
    • Smells good in bottle

Performance

For its price, the "Love Me Tender" hand creme did not perform as well as even the cheapest hand lotion I purchased at a dollar store. When first applying, it felt very smooth and velvety. But it never fully absorbed and left my skin very shiny and greasy feeling. I had to wash my hands several times to completely remove it.
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

The hand creme arrived in the clear plastic bag that Eden ships all of its liquid products in. The actual hand creme is in a 2 oz white plastic tube with a flip top lid (which also screws off). The tube is very simplistic and lovely, one would never assume that this came from a site selling adult products. Black lines criss cross across the front and back. On the front is the manufacturer's name, the product name and scent. On the back is a brief paragraph about the product, the size, website address for Bella Il Fiore, "Made in USA", and ingredient list. The back also says that this isn't tested on animals and is paraben free. The tube is rather small (smaller than my hand), so it will fit into a pocket or purse with no problems. Because it is very discreet and lovely, it would make a nice gift.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense

Experience

I am always on the lookout for a new hand lotion because my hands are usually very dry all year round. When I saw that this creme had been added to Eden, I figured I'd give it a try even though there was only one review for it. I honestly wish I had saved my money.

At $7.99 for 2 oz, this costs much more than what it is worth. While it did smell good in the bottle (with only the slightest hint of a chemical smell), the Almond/Coconut scent certainly did not last while on my skin. When I first rubbed it in, it felt smooth and creamy. After a few minutes, I could barely detect the scent of coconut. The smell of shea butter was more prevalent along with a definite chemical scent. My skin also only felt moisturized for a few minutes but my hands were extremely shiny for a very long time. I waited for over an hour for this to absorb into my skin, but it did not. Instead my hands felt slick with a light layer of grease covering my skin. At this point, I decided to wash my hands to remove the product. The hand soap I use usually produces a lot of lather, but because this was so greasy, the first wash produced no lather whatsoever. I had to suds up three times to completely remove the creme from my skin.

After trying to use this several times, even the tiniest amount left my hands greasy feeling. I wouldn't recommend this product to others and I'm rather disappointed that I wasted 8 dollars on it.
Follow-up commentary
No matter how little of the product I use, this hand creme always leaves my hands greasy feeling. It doesn't make my hands soft, just... slick and oily. I have since passed this on to my cousin. No word on whether or not she likes it.
