Venus body butter - body moisturizer by Venus - review by Adriana Ravenlust

This body butter is intended to smell good while it moisturizes your skin and keeps it soft feeling all year round. Use it in combination with other Venus products of the same or complimentary scents for a more pronounced effect. You can use it in the winter/dry seasons when your skin needs a little something extra or all year round if you prefer. Because of its texture, it's best as a body cream and not one for your hands.

Some body butters are actually a thick, wax-like texture that is reminiscent of butter. The aromatic body butter by Venus is a super thick cream. In fact, you can take off the cover, hold it upside down, and shake it and nothing will come out!

You simply need to dip your fingers into the body butter to use it and massage it into the skin. Unfortunately, it feels a little greasy and even if you're not using it on your hands, you may feel the need to wash them after applying it elsewhere.

Although this is supposed to be pomegranate scent, which is fruity, it is not. At first, it had a slightly floral scent but as you rub it into the skin, it smells increasingly citrus. It leaves a strong smell, not entirely unlike lemon cleaner (like Pinesol+Pledge) on the skin. There is absolutely no touch of pomegranate to this product.

Plus, the strong scent leaves a chemical/citrus taste in your mouth. It's most unpleasant.

The body butter seems to take a while to massage into the skin. While it does leave skin soft and smooth and does massage into it, rather than staying on top, you may opt for a cream or lotion that's a little less labor intensive.

This body butter does wash off well enough if you don't like the greasy way it feels. If you require a heavier product, you may not mind that this feels a little greasy, however. Although your skin will be soft, the feeling and scent will last no more than a few hours. This is not an all-day product.

Ingredients such as shea butter, almond oil, and vitamin E lend to the moisturizing properties. However, this does contain alcohol, methyl paraben, and the ever-vague "fragrance." Ingredient-conscientious consumers may want to find something more natural or with an explicit ingredient list.

This comes in a tub with a black, screw-on cap. It's easy to use, but requires two hands. The brand is cosmetic, so there's nothing naughty about this packaging at all.

Because it's such a thick product, it's not messy at all. It's too large for carrying in a small purse, however. It will be perfect in your bathroom drawers or nightstand.

I was really excited to receive this product in the pomegranate scent. It's one that I've enjoyed before and, while the texture is okay, the scent is absolutely awful. Not only is it not what I expected, but it's just plain bad. Even if I liked lemon and had ordered it, this one has a very chemical smell.
