Blissful Bathing!

I love everything about this product. I know that it's kind of expensive for bubble bath but once you try it, you'll understand why it is. The bubbles last forever, the aroma is strong but not overpowering, and it moisturizes wonderfully. I actually like the scent of this so much and am impressed by the quality of this mineral bath that I'm beginning to seriously consider purchasing other Principessa Beauty products that have the Isolina scent.

Use

I think the best use of this product is as a mineral spa bath (a really fancy way of saying "the best bubble bath on earth"). I think it'll work for any woman as it's not overpoweringly sweet or girly. Some men may also enjoy it but I imagine that a man will want something that smells a bit more masculine. I think the best occasion to use this is perhaps before (or during!) a romantic evening with a significant other, to relax after a long, stressful day, or just because you like bubbles.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is pretty thick/viscous - it's a light pink shimmery mineral (bubble) bath. I'm assuming that the shimmery part of it is from the moisturizers and/or minerals. It's not runny but it will flow when you tip the bottle to pour it. It'll cling to surfaces - the bottle, your fingers, etc. When I poured it, it came out of the bottle just fine but it left lots of little "strings" of bubble bath. I wiped off the excess with my fingers before I put the cap back on the bottle and then ran my fingers under the bath water to get it off. It doesn't feel greasy or anything - I think it feels a lot like a conditioning shampoo would.

Taste / Aroma

When this first arrived, I took it out of the box, took off the top and the seal, and took a whiff. I knew I'd smelled something extremely similar to it before but I couldn't place what it was! It was really frustrating. But the fragrance, Isolina, is VERY strong in the bottle - I made the mistake of sniffing the bottle a few too many times in a short period (trying to figure out where I'd smelled this before!) only to find myself with a slight headache. It's a pretty girly aroma - a bit sweet and floral.

According to Principessa Beauty's website, "Isolina or 'little island' is an exquisitely sheer, subtle, sexy, and delicately sophisticated scent with a touch of whimsy. Top notes include violet leaves & mimosa (orange flower) blended with middle notes of rose petals & neroli. Heliotrope & precious woods round out this ultra-feminine elixir that is best described as pureness in a bottle. It's an alluring blend of feminine, fresh, floral notes, with hints of a powdery finish." Out of all this, what I smelled the most was the floral rose & mimosa notes, and a bit of the woodsy scent they described.

Once you pour it into your bath, the aroma no longer seems quite so overpowering. Instead, it's just enough to relax you. Also, the aroma stays on your skin once you're done bathing - I had to literally sniff my arm to smell it, but it's there. It's not strong enough to overpower you as when putting on your favorite after bath lotion or a perfume. I also noticed that when I went back into the bathroom a few minutes later to brush my teeth, the smell lingers in the air, which I found pleasant. I believe the scent dissipated within a half hour or so.

You'll have to forgive me - but I really didn't feel like tasting this, as I'd bet it just tastes like soap.

Performance

I put three capfuls of this into running hot water and left it to bubble for 10 minutes (I have a huge old bathtub from the 1950's). When I returned, I realized that I could've probably gotten away with two capfuls but I like LOTS of bubbles so I didn't really mind the excess. I sank into the tub, tried to relax, and promptly kicked myself for not having thought to bring a pillow. Minus my lack of pillow bringing, I convinced myself to relax and tried to de-stress from being back at college for 3 days. I soaked in the bathtub for about a half hour before I started scrubbing my body with the copious amounts of bubbles. Even when I'd finished, there were still bubbles floating in the bathtub! I loved everything about this - the long-lasting bubbles, the scent, and how smooth and silky my skin felt when I had finished.

Packaging

The mineral spa bath comes in an opaque black plastic bottle (as shown on the website) but mine didn't have the cute little pink ribbon. The front of the bottle has the Principessa Beauty pink label that states that it is the "Bagno bliss", 18.5 ounces, and a mineral spa bath.

It doesn't have specific instructions such as "pour two capfuls under running water." It simply says in English and French that you can "Create a spa experience at home with this creamy foaming mineral bath. Beneficial, relaxing, and skin softening ingredients like aloe, vitamins, minerals, & organic extracts deliver luxuriously pampered results. Just add water for the perfect hydrotherapy experience." On the bright side, I think we all can figure out a bubble bath!

The bottle is far too large to take in a carry-on bag for air travel, but the cap seems to screw on tightly so you could carry it in your checked bag with ease (but you still might want to put it in a gallon sized Ziploc bag just to be sure it won't leak).
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift
