Use

I've always had a thing for water, starting as a child with a fascination for mermaids and lingering into adulthood with a love for swimming. And of course, baths. I consider a nice bath as one of my common luxuries, and this set is a perfect accessory. I also have a thing for fire, and I absolutely love the face that this set comes with a floating candle. It's like the person who designed this knew exactly what I would be looking for. I do wish EF carried floating candles on the site, but hopefully one day they will.

Shunga oriental bath crystals is a bath product by Shunga Erotic Art. The set includes blue sea salt, a sea shell scoop, a small white floating candle and a beautifully designed tin for storage.

This set would be great for all bath lovers. I think this set would be a great idea for a gift, or for any holiday occasion.

The ingredient list is: Sodium chloride, Sodium lauryl sulfate, Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, Fragrance, Glycerin, Carthamus tinctorius, Prunus dulcis.

I don't know what most of those are, but if you often have allergies to bath products I would beware, as this isn't an organic or hypoallergenic set. Thankfully that's not an issue for me.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The blue salt is grainy, like all other bath salts, and it's thicker than common Epson salt, but functions the same. It's easy to pour and easy to portion with the pretty seashell scoop. 1-2 scoops are all that you'll need, depending on the size of your tub and preferences.

Once dissolved, the salts leave a silky smooth feeling and a vivid blue colour in the water.

The layer of bubbles is thin compared to what would result from a bubble bath; just about an inch from the 1 and 1/2 scoops I used. For me, this is just the right amount; it is thick enough to play with, but thin enough that you can still see the pretty blue water.

Taste / Aroma

I ordered the lotus flower, which is a light floral scent with a bit of vanilla. The scent was strong enough to fill up the bathroom, but was not overwhelming.

It probably has a terrible taste, but I wouldn't recommend drinking the water, and I didn't test that part.

Performance

This product is a success in my mind; it delivered exactly what I hoped it would, and then some.

The silky soft water is relaxing, feels luxurious, and leaves your skin silky soft. It rinses off skin easily and doesn't leave residue. All this I expected. What really impressed me was the gorgeous blue colour the water turned. It reminded me of a tropical beach, and once I tested it on my hand to make sure it wouldn't stain, I was really excited to get in.

The salts also leave a thin layer of bubbles, which are fun to swish around and further enforce the feeling that this is more than your average bath.

I put my hair up to avoid getting it wet. For me, my hair usually runs towards oily unless I wash it thoroughly, so I usually avoid getting any body moisturizers in it.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

Everything comes in a little tin, identical to the product page picture.

Special Features

The packaging say's it had "aphrodisiacs" included. I didn't notice any effect that couldn't be attributed to nice bath experience, but I'm not disappointed by that. I'm not a big fan/believer of chemical aphrodisiacs.

My favourite feature of this set and the one that says luxury is the genuine seashell scoop. I like the fact that a natural element was included and I think I'll keep it for decoration after the salts run out.
Follow-up commentary
This was a great product and I have a cute seashell memento. I think it's a shame we don't sell these on Eden anymore, but I'm glad I grabbed one while I had the chance.
