Illume pearls by Illume candles

So here I am reviewing another candle. I guess it’s pretty apparent that I’m in a long-term relationship where setting the mood has become a way to avoid zoning out in front of the television after a long day. In any relationship, it’s important to set aside time to just be together, and a relaxing evening by candlelight is one way to make sure you stay connected.

The Illume Pearls candle is a high-end soy candle that will provide you with up to 80 hours of burn time. Soy, for those of you who are trying to be a little more earth friendly, is a renewable resource and burns a lot cleaner than your typical petroleum-based candle. If you got a stomachache every time you filled your gas tank this past summer, you should realize the importance of moving away from petroleum-based products.

Aesthetically, this is a really sharp looking candle. The tapered glass jar is elegant and because of its neutral pearl color, it would blend into any room nicely. Because of this, it would make a really nice gift for the person that is impossible to buy for. I own the Freshwater Pearl scent and find it to be really soothing. It’s described as smelling like peach, hibiscus, orchid and vanilla, but to my untrained nose it just smells clean!

For those of you who are interested in wax play, soy burns a bit cooler than paraffin and I found that temperature-wise this was a good fit for us. However, I wouldn’t typically use it for wax play for a couple of reasons. First, the neutral color doesn’t really stand out on pasty white skin and I really enjoy the look of bright wax on my partner. Secondly, at thirty bucks, I’m looking to get my 80 hours of burn time out of this baby! I’d rather use a cheaper alternative for this and keep the Illume Pearl to enjoy around the house.

Overall, this is a really nice product and although it is a little expensive, when you consider the estimated burn time, it’s a bargain. I definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking to create a little ambiance for any reason. Also, if you’re looking for a colored soy candle, I suggest checking out the Illume velas de casa line. Same great quality, just a little more eye catching!
