Dona Lip Balm - More Tingle, Less Plump

There are a ton of other lip balms that are cheaper than the Dona lip balm if you're looking for any sort of chapstick to use. If you're feeling adventurous, Dona is worth dropping $5 to see if it works for you!

Use

I'd never tried a plumping lip balm before, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this. I have to say, it was a fantastic lip balm, but the plumping fell a little... flat. There was a bit of a tingle, and I had hoped it was working, but when I checked my lips in the mirror, they didn't look very different. They had darkened in color, which was wonderful, and they were incredibly soft, but hardly plump.

For a lip balm, Dona does the trick. My lips were soft and smooth, and with the weather cooling down significantly, I didn't experience any chapped lips this winter while using Dona lip balm. The "plumping" effect may have been a let down, but the lip balm itself didn't disappoint.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The lip balm is very soft, and if you're not careful, you could accidentally break the stick. It goes on thick, so I would suggest starting with a light, sparse top coat, and if you need more moisturizing to apply more, but very lightly. It can be a bit heavy on the lips if you apply too much, but that is easily fixed by blotting with a tissue.

Taste / Aroma

I purchased the Pomegranate scented lip balm, and I am so glad I did. The smell is heavenly, not too overpowering but just enough to be noticed. It tastes pretty good too, if you're like me and nervously lick your lips every now and then. It's also a great bonus for kisses.

Performance

As I mentioned before, the plumping effect didn't really work for me, but your mileage may vary. It could have been my lips (they're very small). I did feel a tingling in my lips for about half an hour after each use, but no other noticeable differences besides softer, more kissable lips.

I would suggest reading over the ingredients list before purchasing this, however. A friend with sensitive skin borrowed my tube and shortly after had a terrible reaction. The skin around her lips was swollen, red and sore for a few hours.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Allergy concerns
    • Reapply often
