Evolution Of Clogged Razor

This shave cream from EOS just doesn't cut it. It makes claims it can't live up to and is just too much of a hassle to deal with. The scent is wonderful, the bottle is great, but the fact that it doesn't moisturize, doesn't help prevent razor bumps, and isn't made of natural ingredients, makes this a shaving cream to look over.

Use

This Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream from EOS (Evolution Of Smooth) is a shaving product that's supposed to soften and nourish your skin each time you use it.

Like any shaving cream, this product can be used by men and women for shaving any area of the body where there is unwanted hair. This particular cream seems to be marketed more toward women, especially because the scents are so feminine, but can be used to shave the face, underarms, legs, pubic area, etc. on any gender.

Because this product is supposed to be moisturizing, you could also slather on any freshly shaved area while in the shower to add a little touch of fragrance and potentially help to moisturize the skin. The bottle states that this shaving cream can be used "wet or dry", but shaving dry isn't the best option with this product.

This product isn't at all 'natural'. It's packed with all kind of ingredients that could cause a problem for someone with a skin condition or for someone with sensitive skin. Please take a look through the ingredients to see if it could potentially cause a skin issue with you, and discontinue use should this product cause irritation.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of this shaving cream is very thick and is very pale purple in color. It's not a gel, it doesn't foam; it lays on your skin more like a lotion when it's applied. Because of that, it stays in place very well, but doesn't absorb easily into the skin. When you're finished shaving, you'll have to rinse off the area with water in order for the rest of the cream to come off.

The cream feels very wet in your hands, but doesn't spread well unless your skin is already wet. Even coating your skin with a thin layer causes it to clog your razor since the cream isn't thin enough. This is both a pro and a con; it stays in place well, but doesn't make shaving an easy task.

The smooth cream never feels sticky or greasy; and if you've managed to shave an area of your body without stopping because your razor was clogged, it does leave your skin feeling pretty smooth as well. Some areas of the body will still flair up with bumps/razor burn even though the product claims to be 'enriched with skin protectants to help prevent nicks and razor bumps". Though this claims to help with razor bumps, chances are, if you normally get bumps in the area you're shaving, this product isn't going to be any different.

This shaving cream comes out of the bottle through a nice pump. The pump makes it easy to apply the cream into your hand or onto the desired area of your body.

Taste / Aroma

This shaving cream comes in five different scents and an unscented version; Vanilla, Pomegranate/Raspberry, Cucumber Melon, Island Blue, and the one I'm reviewing, Jasmine/Lavender.

The Jasmine/Lavender has a very soft, fresh scent to it. It's very feminine in nature, but isn't overly floral smelling. Straight out of the bottle it is fairly strong smelling, but once you've shaved with it and it has washed off, there's only a light scent that lingers. It won't last all day, after a few hours the scent has totally faded.

This isn't a product that's meant to be consumed. The taste straight from the bottle is exactly the way it smells coming from the bottle. It almost has a strong soap taste to it. Once you've shaved with it and it has washed off of your skin, should you and your partner get into some oral play, there might be a very light 'soap' taste, but it shouldn't be strong or offensive. Just make sure to rinse any area thoroughly if you plan on engaging in some form of play that would result in someone's mouth being on your body.

Performance

While not being the easiest to apply unless your skin is wet, it does stay in place during your whole shave unless you're directly under running water or submerge the area (like during a bath). A little goes a long way with this product, but it can be a little hard to get the right amount on your skin. Too little and you get razor burn, too much and your razor gets clogged. It can be frustrating to get just the right balance since the cream is so thick.

Shaving dry is a nightmare with this product! Not only does it clog the razor that much more, but it's much easier to get razor burn/bumps, no matter what the bottle night tell you. If you plan on using this product, plan on using a lot of water to help balance the thickness.

If you've managed to finish shaving without throwing your razor away because you're so beyond frustrated by the fact that it's clogged and won't rinse clean, it doesn't really leave your skin feeling moisturized like the bottle claims. I though that my skin would be nice and smooth, and would feel good. It did feel smooth to the touch, but felt tight and dry, even after washing all of the cream from my legs.

This product doesn't work the way it claims; it's a bad choice for someone with sensitive skin, and won't moisturize.

Packaging

The bottle this shaving cream comes in is very attractive looking. The outside color reflects the scent that it contains. The bottle for the Jasmine/Lavender is mostly a light purple color. The pump itself is white with 'eos' impressed in the top of it and the cap is a frosted clear color.

These 7 fl oz bottles have four indents in it; two on the back and two on the front. These indents help the user to hold onto the bottle easier if their hands are wet. It's a great feature to the bottle and works really well.

Nothing about this bottle would make someone think that it came from a sex toy shop, in fact, many department stores carry this same line of products. The front has the company name and has a little bit of information about it; it's a shave cream, gives 24 hours of deep moisture, the scent, etc. The back gives you a little more information and also gives the directions for use. Along each side of the bottle is additional information, written in the opposite direction than the other information I've already mentioned. One side has the ingredients list while the other mentions that it's not tested on animals, contains no animal by-products, is paraben-free, etc. It also gives the company website.

The bottle is recyclable which is a nice feature, and the bottom also gives the expiration date. Another plus is that this bottle takes a long time to expire.

The cap stays in place really well on this bottle, so light travel would be fine. If you're planning on flying though, this wouldn't work out since TSA requires that all liquids be 3 ozs or under. Should you decide to put this in another container for travel, the whole pump top unscrews so that you can pour the cream into another bottle, rather than pump it.

This bottle is very attractive in design and would look great in a gift basket with other body care items.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Experience

I had high hopes for this product after trying out other products from this brand, but this one fell short, really short.

The cream is just too thick for it to work well for me. It takes too much effort to find the right balance with how damp your skin should be. I rinsed my razor out with each pass on my legs, and the cream just clogged it. By the time I was finished shaving, I had to toss my razor and later on grab a new one, and use my regular shaving product to finish up with the hairs that were left behind.

You can't dry shave with this cream for the same reasons. You need to use water with it.

The product didn't make my skin feel moisturized or very smooth. I received razor bumps in the areas I always get them, and the areas I don't, didn't feel any more smooth than when I use my regular product. This cream was a pain and I wasted $7.99 on a product that I now have no use for.
Follow-up commentary
I tried using this product again and the results weren't any better. I feel bad for having wasted money on a bottle of shaving cream that I'll never use, but I will at least try to pass it along and see if someone else will be able to get some use out of it.

Sorry you didn't like it! I get the Unscented but I shave in the shower and it works OK for me. It's not something I'd spend money on, but I've been getting it with my points.
