Eyeshadow Set for All Occasions

This set was fairly inexpensive. You get 4 colors, which are pretty versatile and can be used for so many occasions. Even though the roller balls were not the best for applying, the shadows themselves are quite nice to use. I would definitely buy other cosmetics from Bella Il Fiore.

Use

The Bella Il Fiore Monet eyeshadow set will be great for anyone looking to add to their makeup collection. The warm shades are versatile and could be used for day or night time. Depending on the colors you use, and way you apply it, the shades can be subtle enough for work attire or bold enough for going out to the club. These eyeshadows can be used on their own, or, if you want to go for a bolder effect, a base layer of a light cream shadow or primer can be used to really make the colors pop. As always, a primer will make the color say put longer.

The four shades included are:

1. Luna: This color is the lightest and is a silvery/white, almost cool tone. I preferred it for highlighting the brow bone and corners of my eyes but it could be used any way you like.
2. Halo: This is a light gold shade. The name really suits it. It's very warm.
3. Pretty Pink: This is exactly what it sounds like! This color is a light, shimmery baby pink. Very feminine and soft.
4. Left Blank: Even though this is the darkest color, it's still really not all that dark when applied. It's a shimmery bronze that works well for all over the lid or just in the crease.

As always, makeup should be tested on the hand first, especially if you know you have sensitive skin.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

These eyeshadows come in little roller ball applicators, which I thought I would be more of a fan of initially. The instructions say to blend with your fingertip after rolling on, but I found they work best blended with an eyeshadow brush. Getting the desired amount on the eyelid is a bit of a challenge; it is very easy to pour out too much and get it all over your cheek. I might break off the top and just dip my brush directly into the pot for easier application.

The texture is very lightweight and smooth. It does not feel heavy on the eyelids at all. It stays in place best with a primer or cream shadow base.

Taste / Aroma

This product is an eyeshadow and not to be ingested. Makeup is generally for external use only. It has no aroma that I noticed.
    • No smell

Performance

This shadow stayed put until I was ready to take it off. I used my standard makeup remover, which worked fine. I had no trouble removing it.

My favorite aspect of these shadows are the colors. I like the shimmer and the warm/neutral hues. I also like that Bella Il Fiore does not test their products on animals. I try to be conscious about that, and they have the little bunny symbol right on the packaging.

My least favorite aspect of this shadow is the roller ball applicator. I found them more annoying then anything. It was difficult to get just the right amount on my lids without it spilling on my cheeks.

Packaging

The set of shadows comes in a pretty plain box. There are short, basic instructions on the back of the package, but eyeshadow is pretty straight forward if you already wear makeup regularly. Once you open the box the shadow comes in, there's really no point in saving it. It's cheap and flimsy; I personally just tossed it. The roller balls would be suitable for travel in a makeup bag or box.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Minimal
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

Ingredient List:

-Mica: A naturally occurring mineral used to add shimmer to all of the colors.
-Titanium Dioxide: A naturally occurring mineral used to add a "whiteness" to certain colors and increase opacity(make them show up more solid on the skin).
-Iron Oxide: An inorganic compound consisting of any one or combinations of synthetically prepared iron oxides that includes hydrated forms of iron oxides. This is used for coloring in warmer tones of makeup.
-Red140 Lake: A color additive used in warm tones of makeup.
-Phenoxyethanol: A chemical preservative. It is also a non toxic bactericide making it good for use in cosmetics.
-Ethylhexylglycerin: This is a tropical skin care ingredient which is used for deodorizing and conditioning skin.

Experience

Aside from the applicators being a little inconvenient, I really like the colors. I will continue to use them. They apply well and blend well with a brush.

Thank-you for the nice review, especially the details about the rollerball applicator. I haven't used one of those for ages but I do remember them being annoying.
