Floating Fun!

Great floating candles anywhere but in the bathtub. And these not scented candles don't burn for the full 2 hrs.
Published: June 20, 2011
Pros:
No scent when using with other oils.
Cons:
Candles can be a distraction in the bathtub.

Use

These floating candles were a cute and inexpensive purchase. I bought them to add romance to a special night for my fiance and myself. But you can certainly use them in the bathtub or if you like the looks of them you can have them floating in water any where in the house. Mine ended up in a bowl on the coffee table after they were used in the tub. My friend even suggested a pool but I think these would be too small for a pool and would get lost.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

They were normal candles although small like a tealight. And I had no problem getting them to float. I've had some floating candles that just sunk but there was no problem with these.

Taste / Aroma

There isn't any aroma to these candles which can be a good or bad thing. I like having smelly candles but when you are using oils or other things with scents you don't have to worry about the smells overlapping.

Performance

I did have some issues with these candles in the tub. While they are made to be placed in the tub when we got in the water it would pretty much just put out the candle. The ones that didn't get put out would get close to the skin and it was a hassle to keep a watch on them. Like i said before they ended up in a bowl on my coffee table because it wasn't worth the distraction in the bathtub. Another thing was the description said they were suppose to burn for 2 hrs but I found that time was less. While they did get burned at 2 different times the first time was only like 5-10 mins and then the 2nd on my coffee table was close to 30, maybe 45. So not very long lasting.

Personal comments

Overall they were very cute and did add to the atmosphere but I would not suggest using them in the bathtub. And if I was going to have candles burning in the house I would want scented ones.
Follow-up commentary
It's been a few months since I've tried these and I'm still not fond of them. They are all burned out now but wasn't my favorite candle out there.

nice review. I like floating candles in a bowl on my night stand. I love scents, so if there isn't much scent these aren't for me.

    • Anyone know what the burn time is on these? Considering using them in a wedding ceremony.

There's a burn time listed in the review you linked to. Or my review of the same candles has a burn time listed.

  • Scented candles?
    • I tend to like scented candles the best. What types of scented candles would you like for the floating candle products to offer. I would love some vanilla ones!

I looove scented candles. My favorite mix for in the bedroom in general is black cherry+ vanilla!
    • Vanilla would be win, but I tend to like holiday/halloween scents for candles for some reason. So something like that would be great for me.
