Coochy Shave Cream is a shave cream and a hair conditioner that provides a nice smooth shave to whatever area of the body one chooses to use it on. It has a nice light scent and also comes in an unscented version. It is good for all users and lasts a while so you won't have to buy it very often.

Use

Coochy Shave Cream is a shaving cream for use all over the body. It can be used for shaving legs, underarms, down below, and even on facial hair! Basically it works for whatever area you choose. Due to the conditioning properties of this shave cream, it can also be used as conditioner to soften hair (on your head and your body). It needs to be used in the shower or bath on hair that has been moistened, so for those who wish to shave dry when they are not in the shower this one may not be the best idea.

This is great for all users, males and females, because of the various areas it works for. The only people I wouldn't recommend it to are those who have any sort of allergies to the ingredients.
Here is the list of ingredients: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Bromide, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxethelcellulose, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-60 Lanolin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Panthenol, Allantoin, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea, and Fragrance.

To me, this shave cream feels similar to other hair conditioners (I tend to use thicker conditioners though). It is nice and smooth and does not feel sticky or oily. It is easy to spread on and ,as long as it doesn't get too wet, it stays in place pretty well. Unlike other shaving creams that I have used, this one does not foam up or produce any type of lather. This means the area you are trying to shave is still able to be seen. If the part of your body that you are using this on gets directly in the path of the stream of water from the shower, this shave cream will wash off easily.

Due to the consistency, this cream comes out of the bottle easily, but also in a way that allows you to get the right amount and not have too much left over in your hand. If you do use too much and are not rinsing your razor regularly, it may cause your razor blades to get clogged a bit. This isn't really a problem for me too often and I just put it under really strong running water to get all the cream out of my razor.

Taste / Aroma

I have this one in the Green Tea scent. In my opinion it doesn't exactly smell like green tea, but it has a very light and refreshing smell. It is not fruity, but kind of reminds me of aloe scented lotion with a hint of sweetness to it. The smell does not linger around very long, but lasts during shaving and for a little bit after one gets rinsed and dried off. I have smelled the other scents offered in this product and this one is my favorite by far. I have not tasted this product, so I am unsure of the way it tastes.

Performance

I have been using this product for years and have gone through a few bottles of it. In all that time I have not had a bad experience with it. It spreads on my body easily and allows me to get a nice close shave. After I rinse it off my skin is nice and smooth due to the conditioning properties and soothing ingredients of this shave cream. It is very easy to rinse off and does not require a wash cloth or soap to remove.

One bottle of this, I usually get the 4 oz. bottles (although they sell larger ones), lasts me for a good amount of time. This is because I don't need to use a lot to get a good shave. A drop the size of a nickel is usually all I need for my pubic area and I need less for my underarms and a little more for my legs. I tend to use this most for shaving my pubic area though.

Packaging

The plastic bottle that this shave cream comes in has a flip top that makes dispensing the product very easy. If you are planning on traveling with this I might suggest putting it in a plastic bag (Eden also ships it this way) to prevent any leaks from the cap opening up. The bottle says Coochy Cream which may cause people to take a second look if they see this in your bathroom. The bottle also has directions for how to use this product, for both shaving and for using it as a hair conditioner.

Personal comments

This is one of my favorite shave creams because of the smooth and irritation free shave that I get when I use it. I use it for shaving all over my body because I used to get razor bumps easily and this keeps me bump free and nice and smooth. As this shave cream is also a conditioner, I have used it to keep my pubic hair softer on occasions when I did not shave the entire area. This works well for that also.
Follow-up commentary
This shave cream is still my favorite. I even made sure to put it up to the test of shaving every day to see how it did with preventing irritation and everything was great. I still have a little more than half of my bottle left from the one I bought specifically for my review. It lasts for a good amount of time, but this may vary depending on the user. I highly recommend this one.

I'm interested, but not entirely sold on this product. I use regular hair conditioner as a shaving cream (infinitely cheaper), and don't see much difference between the two...

I haven't tried this, but I got the protective spray. I don't really find it did anything - except make me feel wet when I sprayed it on....lol. I don't razor shave much, but have been tempted to give this a try.

great review! one thing though - while it is similar to hair conditioner, personally, i think there's enough difference to make it distinct. I've used conditioner to shave before and gotten razor burn but I don't with Coochy. Also, it does lather up a tiny bit, lasts FOREVER, gives me a PERFECT shave, and smells terrific, at least in the case of the pearberry, but not too strong. Not overly moisturizing, if you have dry skin, as I do, but it does the trick. Thanks for the review!

I would say in the past mine has lasted about 2-3 months, maybe longer depending on how often I shave. When I post my follow up in a couple months I will make sure that I say how much is left. Thanks for reading

    • I just recently reviewed the green tea scent here.\ :) Basically, it smells great while you're using, but the smell doesn't really linger (which I love). It kind of smells like a sweet tea...but it's a bit hard to describe the scent itself.

  • Who uses coochy rash free shave cream? Did it leave you satisfied with a rash free Brazilian?
