Use

This little 1 ounce tub of Gold Dust has more uses than I can think of for this review! It is the perfect product for accentuating the positive aspects of your body with a bit of shimmer and scent. The powder leaves a faint vanilla scent on your skin and a light golden shimmer. It does not scream "glitter", but whispers a more subtle "look at me, notice my glow". Gold Dust is a subtle, lightly scented and seductive shimmery glow powder that is well worth the price! I have used this almost every day to accent my assets, make up and hair for a bit of a glow and shimmer. I am going to go a bit stronger with it for the holidays and really glam it up!

A friend of mine got married today and we used it on her cheekbones, shoulders and arms and down her spine (she had a low backed dress), and the light shimmer was very subtle but added a million dollar look to her skin and was a perfect compliment to her dress and jewelry.

I put a dab in a Christmas card for my daughter and am waiting to hear the feedback from her after she receives her card.

Here is a list of some of the uses I have tried with this product:
Add a dab to my hairbrush to glam my hair up.
Apply over cheekbones, upper eyebrow after shadow, over my lip gloss/lipstick, around my bellybutton, on my butt cheeks, down my spine, over my breasts and on my shoulders for a nice shimmer.
Puffed a bit on our little dog to shine her up for pictures. (Yeah, we take pics of our little dog-who is a bit spoiled!) Hey, I couldn't catch the cat, so I had to try it on someone!(LOL! I am joking, the cat would have licked it off and it contains talc which is not safe for ingestion.)
Fluffed it on our curtains & table cloth for a shimmery candlelight experience.
Added it to my bath & body Christmas gift baskets.

This product contains talc, is not edible or recommended for ingestion. It has a lovely and faint vanilla odor that is yummy smelling and makes you want to taste it. I wish it was flavored but with talc being one of the main ingredients, I can see why it is not edible.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of the Gold Dust is very, very fine and fluffy. A small bit goes a long way! It has microscopic bits of gold glitter for shimmer and shine with a talc base for ease of application. You must be careful of the fluffy residue and also when opening the tub, there can be a bit of fly out. I always use a fingernail to tap down after loosening the lid, but before I open it.

I do not use the powder puff it came with, but use different make up brushes for ease of application, lack of so much fly about and to tailor my application to whichever area I am using the dust on.

The powder stays in place nicely but does rub off on your clothing after being worn for a bit. It is easily removed from clothing in the wash, removes off your skin with soap and water and will shampoo right out of your hair.

Taste / Aroma

DO NOT EAT THIS PRODUCT! The ingredient list is small, however there are components that are not for human consumption. The ingredient list is: Talc, Mica/Titanium Dioxide, and/or Mica Iron Oxide, Corn Starch, Honey Extract and Fragrance.

The aroma is very pleasing and reminds me of warm french vanilla. It almost makes you hungry for sweets, it smells so good. It is very light and dissipates within a short period of time. I noticed it for about 35-40 minutes after application.

This product is people tested, no animal testing. It also has honey, claims of moisturizing properties, but I have not noticed any moisturizing effects.
    • Bad taste
    • Light smell

Performance

The shimmer lasts all night. I have bits of glitter from my body on the sheets in the morning when I do not shower it off before bed. The aroma is gone in under an hour, but the shine will still go on! I love the versatility and longevity of this product. A couple of brushes and you are covered in a nice shimmer that is subtle and very sexy. A little bit will go a very long ways and reorders are very far apart. I love the gift options available, there is no sexual reference on this product whatsoever, so it is a great gift for everyone.

Packaging

The Gold Dust comes in a pretty white tub that is about 3" tall and 2 1/2" diameter. It holds an ounce of powder and has a shiny gold lid. There is a leopard faux fur powder puff, with tan satin on the other side, inside the lid and a paper seal that needs to be removed. I cut my paper seal in half with a knife, removed part of it and use the lip of the remaining half of the seal to remove the excess powder off my brush before application. This also helps reduce powder fluff in the air. This is very pretty, discreet and a nice addition to your dresser top or vanity.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
Shimmer and glow for the holidays with some Gold Dust! I have purchased a few of these for gifts, there is no sexual references whatsoever on these.

This is a must for sexy accents, holiday glimmers and adding a bit of shimmer to your ordinary makeup. Don't have time to go home before the evening party? Add an night out effect with a bit of Gold Dust! This will make your features pop in a very subtle shimmer or blatant glow. Add a little or a lot for that look you want.

  • Edible vs non?
    • I love the smell of the gold dust, but Id really like to see them come out with more scents. Do you prefer the fruity scents or perfume type scents?
    • I prefer scentless, but if I had to choose, fruit.

I think I tend to side towards Fruity scents

In a couple of reviews this was mentioned, I believe they said that it was "shimmery" rather than glittery. I can't quite recall though. It was one of the top voted for reviews on the product if that helps any
    • Most of the reviews said that it was a shimmer rather then chunkier glitter.
