Gold is $1300/ounce: Lelo flickering touch massage oil: $38/99!!! Bargain!!!

This oil looks, feels and smells great. Feel comfortable knowing that this is a 100% natural oil with no chemical additions. Gold, gold, gold--with the price of gold climbing, this price has remained stable. Using this massage oil elevates our experience to Caesar and Cleopatra each time. Why be average when you can be Kings and Queens? It is a 5 star product but the price lowers it to 4 stars.

Use

Lelo Flickering Touch Massage Oil is a thick oil designed to be used for some serious body massages. Using this product has a luxurious feel to it--there are flecks of 24K gold infused in oil. The oil is thicker than most we have used and because of this it is harder to spray from the pump style bottle. The gold flakes (powder) can clog the outlet, but this is a small distraction to such a unique and wonderful oil. I understand that those with sensitive skin can have a "gold" allergy, but this is almost always due to additives (particularly nickel) to dilute the gold content down to 14/18K (24K gold is very soft and does not hold up well in jewelery). It is free of other ingredients that often cause concern (parabens, glycerine, L-argenine...). Allergic reactions should not be a concern, but I always recommend testing on the inside of your and/or your partner's wrists and waiting 24 hours to check for a reaction. Personally, I couldn't wait to use this oil, but if I had allergy concerns, waiting would be better than risking a full blown reaction.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

We found this oil somewhat thicker than most massage oils. It seems to stay where you put it and does not run, which for us is a good quality. As you rub it around and it warms up to body temp, it does loosen and is easier to spread around however, you still need more than you would with other massage oils. The feel is very smooth and if you close your eyes you would be unaware of any gold flakes floating in the infusion.

Taste / Aroma

We chose the lily/musk scent. There are 2 other options (balsam fir/bergamont--a pine/citrus scent--think Christmas--and spicy clove/amber--think apple cider/pumpkin pie). The lily/musk has a wonderful scent but we would have liked it to be stronger and longer lasting on the skin. Right from the bottle it smells potent enough, but that quickly fades as you spread it out during use. For those who want a very light, lingering scent, this is a great product. If you prefer a stronger and longer lasting noticeable scent, you many want to choose a different product. Neither of us were inclined to taste this product because gold is toxic but I am sure the small amount that would be ingested would be safe. It is just that neither of us are that brave!!!
    • Light smell
    • Smells good

Performance

As a massage oil this is a fairly good product. It feels good and has you feeling like you have moved up in status. I know that it is only temporary, but using a golden product (24K gold at that) just makes you feel like you are moving up the economic ladder and moving quickly at that!!! It's like maturing at a supersonic rate. Be aware that you will need to keep using it as you work your way up, down and around your partner's body as it doesn't go very far, making this an expensive product to continue to use (although we both agree that the expense is well worth it).
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Reapply often

Packaging

The bottle this oil comes in is very attractive. It is a black, glass uniquely shaped bottle with a pump spray and gold lettering "LELO". It contains 130 ml/4 oz of product. The production date is stamped on the bottom of the bottle. I can not address an expiration date as this is not made clear by the company. Surrounding the pump is a "halo" with gives the allusion of a flame (hence the name refers to the flecks of gold and to a flickering flame). The halo around the pump differs in color according to the scent (lily/musk is a beautiful shade of purple). The box is also black with gold lettering. All in all, this presentation hilights the luxury of the product. It would make an excellent gift for a partner or a friend--even a friend that you feel is not a candidate for a "sexually related gift"! You can travel with this and feel comfortable but you need to be aware that due to it's size, you must pack it in checked luggage or risk losing it at the security check point--and at $38.99 I would be heartbroken to see it tossed in a trash barrel.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Very informative packaging

Special Features

There are flecks of 24K gold infused in this luxury massage oil which also contains vitamin E, apricot kernal oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil and perfume (benzyl salicylate, linalool and d-limonene) in the fresh lily/musk scent. Anything that shimmers with 24K gold on my skin gets bonus points in my book for looking great while also feeling great. Most oils we have used have a glow when rubbed into the skin, but this one really shines and shimmers as the light seems to dance from spot to spot.

Personal comments

In addition to using this solely as a massage oil, it makes a nice, light skin moisturizer and a sexy addition when going out. After showering, massage it on exposed skin (arms and legs but I would stay away from my face) to add a nice glow. Whether in the sun or night lights, it will look and feel nice as you move around (especially the dance floor if that is something you enjoy).

Experience

Both of us loved, loved, loved this product. We have used it several times as a massage oil. It feels and smells great, we feel glamorous and always think of this as the oil of kings and queens--my husband even calls me Cleopatra when we use it. I would only use it topically and never as a sexual lubricant because of the gold ingredient. Lelo does not recommend it intimately, only as a massage oil and I would take heed to their experience and knowledge in this area.
Follow-up commentary
It really is hard for a woman to say anything bad about gold or about a product that encourages intimacy between partners so I must say we still like this massage oil. It just feels and smells better and better each time we use it.

    • Is this product ok for someone with oily skin that breaks out easily?

I've actually been using it every day as a moisturizer (I get dry skin in winter)and it has no bad effects on my skin. It cleans off easy and doesn't leave you feeling greasy afterwards so I don't think it will leave much residue to block your pores.
    • I've got all three of them and yes!!! I've got weirdly oily skin in some places and very dry skin in others.

Lelo oil is the only moisturiser I've been able to use daily after my shower that doesn't make my skin drip with oil, doesn't feel like it coats my skin, and makes my skin feel sooooooo good!!! The scent is not strong and works with my perfume not masking it or changing the scent.

This being said, I feel that the spicy clove and amber one is the strongest scent out of all three (but not in a bad way if that makes sense) and not something I'd recommend for the summer.

I've used all of the Burt's Bee's line, Ocean Potion Original and the Hemp Seed lotion, countless after sun's, and countless other products designed for oily and combination skin from name brands to dollar store types and everything in between. Last year I switched to using just olive oil as a moisturiser in the winter and had some good results, but I couldn't stand how it smelt.

Then I tried the Lelo oil... and WOW!!! My skin has been so thankful!!! I have found that on the underside of my breasts, I have to be careful to not apply too much and to rub in a little bit extra, or make sure I let my skin dry completely before putting on clothes.

And on that note, I am off to write a review for Lelo oils.

I haven't tried the candle yet, but I imagine so, I really love this oil apart from the mild scent.
    • It certainly looks luxurious

Yes. Parabens always show up in the ingredients list.

    • I'm usually not one for massage oil. I have weird issues about things like that. But holy cow that is one amazing container and I'm tempted to buy it because of that!

Great job LELO, as expected; you guys are amazing at designing packaging!

Anyone else added this to their wishlist yet?
