Great for Quickie Cleanups

Before & After Adult Toy Cleaner is a good product for quick cleanups and for cleaning up on-the-go. Although it is not a natural product, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. It's a good price and will last you a long time if you alternate cleaning with this product and with other methods (i.e. soap & warm water). Also, the packaging states it is free of harsh soaps, so it won't damage your beloved toys.

Before & After is a really good toy cleaner that does the job quickly. It has a pleasant scent that isn’t overpowering and is free of dyes. Even though it contains chemicals which I can’t pronounce, and it does have perfume, this cleanser doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.

The instructions listed on the package are simple: “1. Spray On...2. Wipe Off...3. Have Fun!”. I have amended the instructions for myself as follows: I spray liberally, rub the toy all around to make sure it’s got cleanser everywhere, rinse off with warm water and either pat dry or air dry. I don’t know if this formula would irritate my skin if I didn’t rinse it off, but I’d rather not find out.

I use this cleanser mainly on my glass and TPR toys I don’t use often. I use this cleanser on my go-to toys (mostly silicone dildos and plugs) only sporadically as I’m afraid the scent/chemicals would seep into the toy. Perhaps I’m just paranoid. I do like the way this cleanser leaves my toys nice and clean and fresh-smelling. That being said, I do wish Before & After came in an unscented formula. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the scent, I just try and stay away from perfumes and other chemicals as much as possible. This cleaner is great for traveling and for quick cleanups in between toys during a hot session. Who wants to stop and go to the sink in the middle of passion play? Not me.

I use warm water and castile soap as my tried and true thorough cleansing method. However, I do like Before & After and I do use it fairly often. If you’re like me and don’t use this product exclusively, an 8 oz bottle will last you a long time. I think this product is definitely worth it.

  • What does before & after do.. before you use it?
    • Is it both a lubricant and a sanitizer? how does that work?
    • It is not a lubricant but merely cleans the toys. When the toy is sitting around, it gathers fungal spores, dust, and bacteria.
    • Before you use it it sits there and looks pretty :P

In theory you're supposed to use it before you use your toys and then after you use your toys to ensure optimal cleanness. At least according to the bottle.

  • Before & After Toy Cleaner...
    • This one got lots of great reviews, but I've got a couple of questions for all you reviewers who use this. The description says you have to "spray, wipe, then rinse" but most of the reviews say no rinsing required. Can you guys confirm there's no residue if you don't rinse? One review mentioned it didn't clean the crevices of textured toys well. Anyone else have that experience? Would you say it replaces the soap & water routine completely?
    • Nah, it doesn't replace soap and water, in my opinion. It may be because I've used soap and water for so long, but I just don't see the benefit to spraying something and then wiping it off. I find the cleaner hard to wipe off on toys w/ texture, and maybe I'm nuts, but then I don't feel like a toy is really clean. It would do in a pinch, but I don't mind soap and water so that's what I go for 90% of the time.
    • I like the the idea of toy cleaner but I always wondered what exactly you wipe down with? What's a good cloth for that?
