Use

The Arousing Herbal Bath Essences is another winner from the Dona line. This one isn't meant to moisturize or cleanse your body, it arouses and awakens your mind. All you need is a few cap fulls of this in your bath and the citrus-y Mangosteen scent will help you relax and focus.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a thin, almost watery bath oil. It is a very light yellow color in the bottle, but pours out clear. Once you add the desired amount to your bath water, the tub gets a little foamy. Not enough bubbles for a bubble bath, but a thin layer across the surface of the water that quickly disappears.

When put on the fingers, it feels like a massage oil. Not very greasy or oily feeling, just slick. It absorbs into the skin quickly leaving a thin film.

Taste / Aroma

The Mangosteen scent of this bath oil is different from the other Mangosteen scented products from Dona. This time it smells flowery, sweet, citrus-y like orange and lemon peels. The fragrance is almost overwhelming if you try to smell it from the bottle. Once in the water, it becomes very light and sweet.

The scent fills the bathroom until the water is drained. It lingers on your skin for about ten minutes before completely fading away.

Performance

The Arousing Herbal Bath Essence was very relaxing, but at the same time it made me feel very awake and focused mentally. It must have been all the ginseng extract in the ingredients. After my bath, I couldn't even think about going to sleep.

After the bath, I noticed that there was a thin coating of oily film on my skin. It was easily wiped off with the towel, but I had to clean out the bath tub the next day.

Ingredients: Glycerin, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Seed Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Paullina Cupana Seed Extract , Ptychopetalum Olacoides Root Extract , Turnera Diffusa Leaf Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Pausinystalia Yohimbe Bark Extract, PPG-26 Buteth-26, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Fruit, Fragrance

Packaging

Like the rest of the Dona line, the Arousing Herbal Bath comes in a rather small 4.25 fl oz clear plastic bottle. It has an easy to remove black twist off cap and a pretty dark blue/black lace pattern on the label. The bottle does have the tendency to leak even when the cap is screwed on tightly.

The directions say to use only 1-2 cap fulls of the Herbal Essence, but that didn't have enough scent for my taste and I ended up using 3-4.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Leaky container
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

After using this a few times and trying to figure out why I felt so awake afterwards was a little confusing. Then I read the ingredients and noticed the ginseng extract. I don't suggest using this right before bed if you are sensitive to caffeine. This would probably be better if marketed as a morning shower gel instead.

The Mangosteen fragrance was much nicer in this Dona product, maybe it had to do with all the added herbs? I don't know. But, it was less like Orange Clean and more like a perfume. After using a few of the other Dona products, we have yet to notice any effects from the aphrodisiacs that are supposedly infused into this line.

All in all, it was different. But, I don't think I would buy this one again.
Follow-up commentary
I love all of the bath products by Dona. I have gone through all of my stash and will be purchasing more soon. They are very relaxing and well worth the rather steep price of almost $10 a bottle.

I can't wait to try all of the other scents!

OoOh! I'm glad you shared the caffeine and ginseng ingredient-warning with us! That is very interesting. I enjoyed this review very much. I think this is one of the only Dona shower products I've not bought. Usually I buy them for someone else like my mom or sister and they like them, but I've yet to keep one so far. I think I'd actually like this. I've used 2 others before and didn't find them to be worth the price, but this scent sounds nice. I might end up trying this one. I have used caffeine buzz soaps before and never actually felt any more energized from them, but it sure would be something to use it and go to bed only to have your eyes bugged out staring at the ceiling! LOL. Great review

@kendra30752 This one really isn't like the other Dona products. Maybe all the caffeine was because I was using twice the recommended amount? *shrugs*

    Anyhow, thanks for reading!
