The hitachi magic wand was initially marketed as a muscle massager, and it works well for this. It can definitely vibrate and relax those sore and tight muscles, but what most of the people here are using this for is a roller-coaster of a vibrator. This thing has power!

Now the wand itself is primarily used by females as a clitoral vibrator. You could also use it for nipple stimulation. With just the head it would be very difficult for internal stimulation. There are though attachments made for the wand both for males and females making the wand more versatile.

For males, there are sleeve attachments. The guy places it over his penis, and you turn the wand on. Definitely a lot of fun. Especially if you have the sleeve on the top of the head, you can have an orgasm in 30 seconds. As a male, you can also just place the wand onto the tip of your penis. This can be quite enjoyable, but hard to reach orgasm with in my opinion.

For females, there are heads with more texture for clitoral stimulation, and then there are arms to transfer the vibrations into the vagina. Some being curved so as to cause a G-spot orgasm.

I think for both males and females this is not the best toy for beginners. Simply because this is as much power as you are ever going to get. This thing has a big motor and really puts out vibrations. I think it is better to experience some other toys that vibrate less, but could still easily bring you to orgasm before buying a hitachi (unless you are using it just for sore muscles).

The Hitachi Magic Wand is made out of plastic giving it an 8 in safety according to EF. It is non-porous and pthalate free.

It has a slight smell of plastic, but nothing overwhelming. Nothing I really notice unless I stick my noise up to it and am trying to actively smell it.

The toy has a nice soft and fairly smooth head to it. It has one ridge in the middle of it. If you squeeze the head of the toy you will find it squishy. I quite like its texture. The toy also has a very flexible neck. This makes the head easier to position where you want. I have personally bent it probably 40 degrees and never had a problem with that. It is a nice feature.

The magic wand has 2 settings to it, high and low. Now, this is all you really need when using it to relax muscles. It would be nice to have more settings, especially one or two lower than their low setting, but nothing I can really complain about. It still works really well.

The toy is about one foot long (13 inches to be exact) and has 76 inches of cord. The toy is a little bulky and heavy, but that is the trade off you make for a big giant powerful motor.

The shape of the head is quite nice. It has no sharp corners that dig into you, and you can easily nestle it up on top or touching the clitoris. This is quite easy with the flexible neck. It has a nice long handle that makes maneuvering such a big toy fairly easy. I have never had any problems accidentally hitting the buttons.

The toy is both discreet and not discreet. The toy was not originally made as a sex toy, so you can legitimately tell people it is just a muscle relaxer, but at the same time, more and more people are familiar with the hitachi as a sex toy, and it is a big toy, so you can recognize it from a distance.

I think this is not a beginner toy. The intensity of the vibrations is very high. The hitachi is good, but I think it is nice to try cordless vibrators too for beginners. They will probably work just as well as the hitachi (unless you have a really hard time orgasming) and can be more convenient.

The hitachi does one thing and one think well. VIBRATE! It has two setting low (which is still very powerful) and high (which is crazy powerful). It also has an off position. If you want powerful vibrations, this toy performs great. I think this toy works quite well for relaxing muscles and also works really well as a sex toy. The toy is made for external use only. You would not want to insert this toy into you, but you can easily buy some attachments for the head that make internal use possible.

The wand has a nice design. All of the vibrations are in the head. So while you are using the wand you do not feel any vibrations in your hand.

This toy sounds like a bull in a china shop. It is very loud and not discreet at all. It was never made to be discreet. It was made to be powerful and get a job done. So that is the one big downside to this toy. If you have roommates and you do not want them to hear you, then pass on this toy.

The motor can get too warm after prolonged periods of time so you should let the toy cool down after 25 minutes of use.

When I am done playing with this toy, I take a damp soapy cloth and just wipe down the head. The toy is not waterproof so you will want to be careful with water around the toy. Wipes and toy cleaners would also work well for cleaning this toy

Just store this toy in a dry place. Again, you do not want to get the motor wet.

Because the toy is made out of plastic, you can use all lubricants with it. Water, silicone, and oil based lubricants are all fine. But be careful; you do not want them to drip down into the motor. I do not think you need to lubricant the toy. If you wanted some lubricant I would apply it directly to yourself
