I'd prefer you not to intimately caress me.

Razor burn is one of those things we all try to avoid. Kama Sutra caught on to that with this product. It seems like they had the right idea, but the performance and scent aspects fell short of what I had expected from them. I personally have had much better results with the other shaving creams like this one out there. I was left with a bad case of razor burn, and disappointment after this one.

Use

The Intimate Caress Shave Cream is, well, a cream meant for shaving and geared towards those sensitive areas that are prone to irritation. While slightly feminine in its approach, it is quite gender neutral (aside from the more lady-like scents). It's perfect for sexy parts, under arms, legs, and whatever else you like to take a razor to. It protects and soothes the skin which helps to prevent embarassing razor bumps and itchiness leaving your skin soft and smooth to the touch.

The shave cream is generally hypoallergenic, so it's suitable for mildly sensitive skin, but those with issues with fragrances or other severe chemical sensitivities may want to be careful here.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

It feels a lot like conditioner. It's mildly thick in viscosity and incredibly creamy, which makes application easy. It does a pretty good job at staying where you put it and coating the skin. The pump bottle makes dispensing it easy and convenient, but only a very small amount comes out with each pump, which can be a hassle when shaving large areas.

When applied it doesn't lather like normal shaving creams do. The foaming ingredients in these shaving creams are sometimes irritating to the skin and don't allow it to be fully protected from razor irritation. On the other hand, it is a little hard to see where you have already shaved. It's best to go back over and area once if you're not sure whether you've gotten it all. It rinses off easily and doesn't leave behind any traces of stickiness or greasiness behind. I had expected my skin to feel a little smoother afterwards, but I was disappointed to find that it wasn't.

Taste / Aroma

Coconut pineapple sounded delightful. I expected a fruity tropical escape in a bottle. Kama Sutra has crafted some of the most pleasing scents I've ever come across (in their Treasure of the Sea bath salts and Ocean Blu body wash). I excitedly opened the bottle and gave it a whiff. Tropical? Not so much. Coconut car air freshener? Yes. I have no idea how they completely replicated the scent of those little trees you hang from your mirror, but they pulled it off, and that's not something I find too delightful in my car, much less in my intimate areas. I don't want to feel like I've stuck one of those trees down my pants. Luckily the scent is incredibly light and is barely noticeable during and after use.

Performance

I had high expectations here. Kama Sutra's bath and body products have always impressed me and are some of my favorites out there. I had been using the Coochy Cream, and had used the Wet Inttimo in the past. Coochy worked well, but I expected this to work even better. Not the case. It's a little thinner than the Coochy. It smells like awful air freshener, and it left me desiring more. It wasn't quite as bad as shaving with a normal body wash or shaving cream, but it wasn't the miracle in a bottle that it seemed to be. I ended up with the bumps and the itchiness I was trying to avoid there, and without any softness or smoothness. I've only used it a handful of times and that's when the Coochy is too far from my reach. Instead of using the rest of this bottle I'm considering ordering more Coochy, or Inttimo which was my favorite of the three.

Packaging

The packaging is fairly discreet and classy, unlike a bottle that screams "this is for shaving vaginas!" It looks elegant in my shower but serves more as decoration than anything else. I give them a few extra points for that one, but they're still in the red.
Follow-up commentary
I use this when my Coochy is too far out of reach in the shower and I'm feeling lazy. It's a bit better than water alone, but the scent of it still drives me nuts. After four months of sitting in my shower there's barely a dent in it and I'm not sure if I should toss it or save it for 'emergencies'. Such a shame since the other Kama Sutra bath products are the best I've ever used.
