Scented massage candle discontinued

-I needed a little ambiance in my life-

I'm a candle lover and I can get pretty picky when it comes to candle scents and types of wax with candles. I really like the soy and the way it melts, along with the creaminess of the Shea butter. I like the combination of the two and I especially like how it glides over my skin. It leaves my body feeling silky and smooth. Who doesn't like that?

Use

Let me start by saying that I seriously LOVE candles. When all my friends would be out buying desserts, sweet goodies and junk food, I would be out buying the most delectable smelling candles. Besides toys, I'd say that candles were my other weakness. What can I say? I'm a sucker for candles and when I find some awesome candles, I'm going to share my finds with the world!

I recently purchased this soy based massage candle called 'Ambiance massage candle' by Pleasure Works on the buy out option here on Eden. I just had to wait for the right time to use it because it's actually a massage candle, which I was very giddy about. My first thought was that using this candle would require me to put some extra time into being able to enjoy the candle properly, and of course I wanted to use it the way it was intended to be used. I had to make this a two person testing. All to my liking, of course.

**For those with skin interactions or other allergies, please test on a small part of body before using the massage oil in a large area of skin.

During the time that I was doing the skin test, I had left the candle burning. Always make sure to let the candle burn all the way to the edges of the vessel. This may take an half hour or so, or a little longer, and never burn for longer than 3-4 hours or leave an burning candle unattended.
If you only burn your candle for a few minutes and then blow out the candle, you risk only having that same small pool of wax being the only wax burned from then on.

That happened to me years ago, I had a new candle burning and it had been burning for about 15 minutes when my neighbor and her daughter showed up at my door for some goodies that I had made them. They came inside my home and while my neighbor was chatting with me, while I was in the next room, her daughter decided to blow out my candle. Her mother was in there with her and didn't think to mention it to me.
I was in the kitchen for about 10 minutes packing up some baked goods that I had made for them and then once I finished and walked back into the living room, I noticed that the candle was out. I could have screamed, but I picked up the candle and asked my neighbor, "Oh, What happened to the candle?"
The neighbor laughed and said that her daughter had blown it out. Almost as if it wasn't a big deal.
I hurriedly got them out the door in attempt to save my candle. I lit the wick and sat there for a bit seeing if would gain its life back. Nope, it only filled the small pool in which it had started before it was blown out. I was really disappointed as this was not a cheap candle, by any means. I sat there pondering about ways to fix this...
After about 5 minutes had passed, I came up with an idea to make a 'tent' out of aluminum foil, and to wrap it around the top of the candle and make a little chimney in the top of the foil and see if that would work in helping to melt the top layer of wax evenly.

Low and behold, an hour later, the wax had melted completely across the top. I was ecstatic. My precious new candle had been saved. I was thankful for that and I had also learned a new way to rescue candles that this had happened to.
I'm sharing this with you, just in case you have any candles just sitting around where this has happened. It works! Go try it now. You're welcome.

Here are a few tips that I'd like to share.

-Soy candles burn at a lower temperature, which helps against any harmful burns if you tend to move your candle or have small children who want to go near it.

-Always trim your wick to 1/4" before use.

-Never leave a burning candle unattended.

-Never burn for more than 3-4 hours, unless specified.

-Never use candle massage oil on the face as it could possibly cause breakouts or acne.

- Never use it inside the vagina or anus. It could cause burns or infections.

I'll give some of the specifics on the candle and then provide how the candle held up through my relaxing night.

Candle name- Ambiance Massage Candle

Candle size- 11 oz./312g

Vessel material- The body is glass and the top is plastic.

Vessel size- 3.5" high, 10" in circumference.

Company- Pleasureworks Wholesale - Oakland, CA

Scent/Fragrance- Pear Vanilla

Ingredients - The candle is soy based wax which is my favorite type of candle to burn.

There is also shea butter and a vanilla and pear fragrance oil added to the soy.

Shea butter is moisturizing, rich, and is made from the nuts of the Karite nut trees, also known as Mangifolia. Shea butter promotes circulation, along with new cell regeneration. In other words, it's the skins best friend. It has been known to be called 'women's gold' because of how well it makes the skin feel, and some women still use it from head to toe.

Vanilla fragrance oil is one of the most widely used scents today on the market. It compliments so many other fragrance oils and pairs nicely with soy. For this use, it works out nicely with the pear. The throw is wonderful and it doesn't become cloying. It's not over the top and the scent fills my 12x12 room, nicely without overdoing it. Before burning, the wax is a creamy off-white color.

Taste / Aroma

The Smell....mmmmm!

The vanilla and pear fragrance oils are nice and natural smelling. I seem to detect more of a rich vanilla scent, rather than much of the sweet smelling pear. I do get hints of the pear while I'm walking around the room, but the delicious warm vanilla is the main aroma that I get.

Rating:

I give the Ambiance massage candle a 5/5. I love the fragrance, the feel, the oil, the way it burns and the way it lights up the room. I have nothing bad to say about this candle. I'd definitely love to try other scents.

As for taste, this isn't made to be tasted. It's a candle for body use only. You could get sick, so don't eat it. No matter how delicious it smells. I know it's tempting.

Performance

I decided that it would be on a Sunday night to use the candle when things weren't too crazy busy, and my partner knew my back would need a nice massage.
Since this is a massage candle, I wanted to test it out on my skin in a small area before putting a huge amount on and possibly having a reaction.
To do this, I trimmed the wick just a little for this time as I wanted to see how the wick burnt and how the wax puddled around the wick. For the first time burning, I will sometimes leave the wick long, to make sure that the wax pools across the candle.
The best candles are candles where the liquid wax fills the whole top of the candle. I've purchased candles in the past and some of them only made a small bowl of wax around the wick, even after burning for several hours. I'm lucky to say that this didn't happen with the Ambiance massage candle. I left it burning for half an hour while I did things around the house. It quickly turned into what I describe as a nice light lemony-yellow liquid.
Since there isn't a pour spout on this candle, I placed it on a plate-like candle holder that I had on hand. I put my wrist over the holder and poured a little wax onto my wrist. It wasn't too hot. It was actually perfect. It had a great amount of warmth to it. Once I poured it and found it to be the right temperature for me, I began to rub the massage oil into my wrist. It was smooth and creamy and didn't clump up. It blended nicely into my skin and quickly turned into oil. I liked the scent and the feel of the oil. I left it on my skin for about 30 minutes to check for a possible reaction and then washed it off. I have to report that I had no interactions or allergic reactions to the oil.
It was good to go for Sunday night!

Sunday night arrived and I trimmed the wick to a little more than 1/4" before use and I let the candle burn for about an hour this time. It took about 15 minutes to get a decent sized amount of the massage oil to form. I like for the top layer to be completely liquid and then pour off a little, but not all of it. I found if you leave a little it doesn't take as long to become melted again.
If you want the oil to last, don't use over the entire body at once, because a little goes a long way. He used it on my back and my shoulders and he said that the consistency was just like a natural oil and his opinion was that it wasn't too hot and it felt great on his hands.
This is something we'll use more on nights when I feel like being pampered, or had a long day at work. This isn't something that we would use every night because it feels like a treat when we use it.
We both had a mutual liking for the delicious scent. We liked that it wasn't sticky and has a nice consistency.

The candle was a hit for both of us because once the candle oil was poured onto my back, we put it back on the holder, and it was such a peaceful and calming ambient lighting for the dark room.

A perfect lighting to pamper a princess.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

The Ambiance candle arrived in a clear plastic bag and was padded nicely with a bubble wrap.

There were no instructions included with the candle. The candle would be fine for travel if you made sure to keep it in a padded pouch, since it's glass.
This would be nice for gift giving.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Would make a nice gift
