If Q stands for Question then B stands for BuyThese!
The Contour Q is a part of the innovative line of massage stones by JimmyJane. These sea-shelled shaped treats are like a beach vacation, without the sunburn! However when you use them with the Contour M as advertised, the noise will remind you that you actually need a real vacation.Published: October 24, 2010
Pros:
Can give a wide variety of sensations. Small and easy to handle.
Cons:
NOISY when used with the Contour M.
In all honesty, I'm having trouble starting this review. And not in the I don't know what to say type of trouble, in the I have too much to say!
The Contour Q is really two stones. Yes, you get two stones for the price of 1 Contour M or 1 contour I. And while the dimensions on EF are extremely accurate (make sure to view this product full size), I was still surprised at their small-ness. But never fear! These stones pack quite the punch. You see, one stone is bubble textured, and one has 3-D stripes. They both have gumdrop shaped ends that are especially good at kneading sore muscles. If anything they're too good because sometimes I wish the ends were just a little bit wider, so the pressure isn't *so* pinpoint.
So I bet you're wondering how they felt. If you haven't guessed from the title, they feel great! I think I'm partial to the bubbled stone because it feels a little bit different. My favorite way to use them (without any other JJ products) is to cradle them in my hands and roll them over my skin (with or without massage oil/lotion). In my opinion, the striped one rolls easier, however the spotted one feels more unique. Neither the spots nor the stripes are jagged/harsh against the skin. If anything, I wish they were raised higher so they could have more of an impact!
The JimmyJane manual also suggests using the Contour Q stones for a foot massage. And so I did. And they sure know what they're talking about! I usually sit these on my carpet and roll my feet over them. I don't usually like foot massages, so a "Sophie seal of approval" in this area means that they're really awesome! I also realized (yes, the hard way) that you shouldn't use massage oil when you're rolling these things on a carpet because they'll pick up hair and dust like it's nobody's business.
These stones can also be used in conjunction with the Contour M. I was most excited about this feature! As Carrie Ann pointed out in her video, both Q stones fit inside the M. [Apparently] Depending on the direction of placement, the stones sit higher or lower in the Contour M. However I didn't notice that much of a difference either way.
Honestly? I was a bit disappointed with this combination. I was hoping that I could apply more pressure with the Q when it was held by the M. It felt nice having the dots roll over my skin, but it wasn't anything special. And the addition of massage oil made their impact even less noticeable. However that's not to say that you can't *make* it special. Under the right conditions, with music and candles and incense, I'm sure that you can use this to give your partner (or yourself) a nice "warm up" massage. The mood would be perfect. Until you hear the clattering of the Q against the M when you go to use it! That is LOUD. Think ceramic on ceramic. Luckily I doubt they will scratch (and with the use of massage oil, I'm sure they won't scratch). But it's still LOUD. And if you don't have carpet, the echo from these will be all the more louder.... If you can get past the noise, it feels very pleasant. But it won't get the knots out.
And now for the miscellaneous information:
These massage stones should be cleaned with mild soap and water. If sanitation is necessary, you can clean them with a 10% bleach solution. They also come in a cardboard JimmyJane box. In the packaging, they look like massage stones. Mostly because they are massage stones.
The stones themselves are white with the JimmyJane logo one one of the "gumdrop" ends. There's also a little dot on middle of each stone. I presume it was a hole that was kept open during the firing of these stones. It was sealed and glazed so you can't feel a difference. However the white doesn't match the color of the body of the stone, which is annoying.

Experience
I am sad to report that I do like the Contour M better than the Contour Q. The points on the Contour M are broader and more effective for me. I would say that the Contour M is my perfect massager. The Contour Q is good for when I want to change things up. And if I want to start a band, I'll use both of them together.

I saw this just a few moments ago, and was wondering..
Is this true?!!! I hope not, I wanted to buy this little set so much!!!
And yes, I do not usually make threads like this, but I had to...this has made me completely devastated, I hope that it's simply a glitch! -

Thank you for viewing Contour Q – massager review page!

Aren't they amazing for the feet? I like to use them the same way on my hands, only on my desk instead of the floor. For some reason, it just feels really good to roll and roll my hand over there... Like a total stress reliever!
OOooo I bet this would be heaven on my aching after work feet.
Oooh, these sound heavenly.
These are really neat looking!
@Carrie Ann: Yes!! And I never thought of the hand thing, although I'd probably roll them on a bed/paper/book or something just to make them silent....
@ Jobthingy, Illusional and @Raggedy Andie: You are so correct, and they really are awesome, and a bargain for all of their uses!
Nice review! These sound like a lot of fun, I might have to get them just for the fact that they look and sound amazing for foot massage!!
I wondered how loud these would be used with the Contour M. I absolutely LOVE the look of these! Great review.
thanks!
