Illume velas de casa review

Candle by Illume candles

Published: June 23, 2008
extremely useful review
This is a really nice product that's good for your stress level and the environment. If you're looking to reconnect with a partner or just improve the overall ambiance of a room, this is a nice touch.
Pros:
Soy burns clean, refreshing scent, looks good.
Cons:
A little pricey, but when you consider it burns for fifty hours, it's worth it.

This toy was definitely designed
I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated by the thought of writing a three hundred word review about a candle. I mean, how much can a girl really say? Fortunately, at least for me, I have plenty of great things to say about the IIlume Velas de Casa candle I recently received.

I feel fortunate that sex isn’t really ever an issue in my long-term relationship. We have plenty, and it’s pretty fantastic. I’ve found when life gets in the way, we tend to skip over the little things like foot rubs and hour long make out sessions – so we’ve decided to both make a better effort to be more intimate. One way to do that is turn off the TV, turn down the lights and set things on fire.

I chose this particular candle mostly because it is made out of soy and has a lead-free wick. Soy is a renewable resource that burns a lot cleaner than your typical paraffin candle, which is made with petroleum. This means it won’t leave soot on surrounding objects or fill the air with toxic carcinogens. Basically, soy candles are much better for you and the environment.

I think that this particular candle is really nice. I got the Flor de Sol, which is described as smelling like melon, peach and bergamot – whatever that is. It actually smells exactly like Sunflowers perfume by Elizabeth Arden. It is really fresh and clean, without being overwhelming and that’s really important to me. It also comes in a really nice frosted glass jar and is attractive enough to be left out all the time. The 7.4-ounce product is said to burn for about fifty hours, which is a lot of relaxing for one little candle.

The best thing for me is that turning off distractions and sitting by candle light keeps my girlfriend and I connected, whether we’re cuddled up talking about what happened at work or partaking in one of the aforementioned hour-long make out sessions.
Follow-up commentary
I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know that I'm still really happy with this product. It's on my bedside table and I love waking up to its subtle smell. Also, I am pretty positive that I'll get the 50 hours of burn time promised by the company. I made a couple of comments regarding wax play, but wanted to highlight that it is great for it. Soy burns a little cooler, so there's less risk of being burned. My only complaint is that the color of this particular candle doesn't really stand out against my skin. This was a great addition to my home!

Have you tried any wax play with it- if so, how's the temperature of soy wax?

I've always been curious about soy candles, this one sounds very nice. The smell is intriguing too; I hate the super heavy perfume like candles. Instead of producing migraines, this actually sounds like a perfect mood setter.

I love soy candles...and would love to know about wax play.  Keep us updated.

Glad you liked them!

I haven't tried this one yet.  From what I understand soy candles burn cooler than parafin and beeswax, but any dye and/or scents added can increase the burn temp.  I'll be sure to do a follow up review!

Alright, finally had a chance to follow up on this.  I understood correctly, this  definitely burns cooler than a standard parafin candle.  great for temp play, especially for beginners who are a little nervous.  My only complaint is that the color of this particular candle is kind of yellowish and didn't really stand out against skin.  If you're buying with temp play in mind, you may want to consider what color will really contrast with your skin - I always enjoy that visual!
