Intimidated by the Inttimo

I expected a lot more from this massage oil. I wish it actually smelled like what it says it does. It says it's "spa quality", but my massage therapist roommate disagrees and only verified my feelings about this stuff. I'm still on the search for a good massage oil. With the weird smell, the leaky container, and how quickly it dries up, I really don't have a use for this.

Use

Inttimo Oil is a great oil for massage, bath, and body. It's light fragrance will help to create the perfect mood for just about any activity. There are several different scent formulations to add an aromatherapy experience. (I chose the Romance scent, which is a blend of Pachouli and Ceadarwood)

This is a great oil for massage. It's got a great amount of glide, so you'll have enough of a silky slide to give a wonderful sensual massage. This oil may be a bit too slick for things like deep tissue massage, but should still allow for a good working of the muscles.

You can pour a small amount of this in your bath and enjoy a wonderfully scented experience, and silky soft skin afterwards. The oil will help to condition and soothe your skin. You can also apply this oil to your skin after a bath for some ultra-deep moisturization.

This massage oil is NOT suitable for genital/internal use. It's not latex friendly at all. Don't get it in your eyes, nose, mouth, ears, or any other hole you've got.

Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis), Aroma, Capryic/CapricTriglyceride, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice (Aloe Barbadensis), Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate), Macadamia Seed Oil (Ternifolia), Hempseed Oil (Cannabis Sativa), Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima), Sunflower Oil (Helianthus Annuus), Kukui Nut Oil (Aleurites Moluccana), TBHQ, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Glycerol Oleate, Essential Oils, Fragrance

As you can see, this oil is heavy on the good stuff. It's got so many plant oils and Vitamin E. All of these oils are incredibly good for your skin. Have you looked at the ingredients of some other massage oils? You'll find a lot less of these and more things you can't pronounce. The only issues with this massage oils may be the amount of fragrance and the parabens. Those with very sensitive skin may want to avoid this product and stick to unscented massage oils.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Overall, straight out of the bottle, this massage oil has a regular oil-like consistency. When applied to the skin, it takes on a velvety texture. It's not as slippery as baby oil, or some of the other massage products out there. It's not going to have you slipping all over the place during your massage. It does seem to absorb into the skin pretty quickly if it's not worked on. When absorbed, it doesn't really leave behind much of a residue. It feels a little velvety and smooth, but not sticky, greasy, or oily.

The bottle is a bit of a downfall of this product. When you unscrew the cap, you'll see that it has a little ring to restrict the amount of oil that is applied. I'm really not a fan of this bottle, but I will cover that more in the performance section.

Taste / Aroma

I really expected the scent of this stuff to be a lot stronger because it's billed as an "aromatherapy" oil. Honestly, I wasn't too sure about how the combination of Patchouli and Cedarwood would be either. The scent is fairly light. Neither scent dominates the other. They're beautifully blended together and are quite a pleasing combination. While the scent I chose was the "romantic" one, I would say it's more of a cozy scent. It's very earthy, not too warm, and not too cool. It's not overly feminine. I'd consider it a fairly gender-neutral scent that leans a little towards the feminine side, but I could imagine a man pulling off this scent pretty well if it were left on the skin. The scent does linger for a good amount of time.

So, to give you a visual of the fragrance, imagine an old cedarwood box full of incense and dried flowers. I'm not really a fan of it. It doesn't make me feel romantic. It just makes me feel like I've stuffed my face into the above visual.

Performance

With this bottle, you get 8oz. of a good quality oil. It should last your through several massages, baths, and then some. For massages, it's mediocre. It's not the best out there, but it's not the worst. It dries up a little too quickly for my taste. For baths, I would use something with a better scent, even though it works well for moisturizing super dry skin. I really don't like the smell enough to leave this on my skin. It washes off easily with some soap and water. If you spill it, make sure clean it up asap to avoid stains.

Here's the real bummer when it comes to the massage oil: the bottle leaks. I slightly peeled off the plastic piece that covers the top so I could smell it when I first got it. I replaced that and the cap. I made sure I screwed the top on really tightly, and placed it back in the plastic bag, and threw it in my backpack to take home. When I got back home, I took the bottle out of the bag and noticed that it had leaked even though I went though extreme measures to make sure it didn't. When the cap is screwed on tightly, you can still squeeze the bottle easily and air/oil will come out of the top. Don't store this bottle on its side. Don't travel with it in the original bottle, or make sure that it's in its own plastic bag so it doesn't leak over everything.

Personal comments

I wanted to like this. I really did. I could look past the leaky container if it actually smelled good, or worked well.
Follow-up commentary
I've really debated throwing this stuff away. I hate the smell of it and it leaks everywhere so I'm forced to smell it every time I dig in my lube box. I have it double bagged in little plastic baggies with a twist tie around it, but if the bottle shifts, it starts leaking again. I've found much cheaper massage oil that smells a whole lot better than this (Sensuous) and is made of much better ingredients. I'd feel guilty if I threw this away, so I'm contemplating gifting it to a friend who likes things that smell like old hippie lady perfume.

Cool that this can be used for the bath too! You can totally tell this is an excellent oil from the ingredient list. How did this review slip through the cracks?!?! I have PLENTY of oil...too much, but I did over look this one, and I'm sad I did.

I have no idea why this review slipped through the cracks. If they changed the bottle and had a better fragrance, this stuff would be really nice.
