Kama Sutra massage oil
This is a good product and does exactly what one would want from a massage oil. It worked wonders the first time I used it and I plan to incorporate it into many romantic evenings in the future.Published: May 31, 2011
Pros:
Exactly what is needed from a massage oil
Cons:
An overpowering scent
I ordered the Kama Sutra massage oil to increase my lover's awareness and appreciation of the fun sorts of activities couples can engage in before the main event. I must admit, I was terribly apprehensive. I have the type of skin that occasionally decides it is too sensitive for fragrances or oils, and strong smells often give me unbearable headaches. Not a good way to start a long, sensuous, and romantic evening. With that in mind, I searched specifically for something that was hypoallergenic and had more natural ingredients. I chose a fragrance (Sweet Almond) that I hoped would be mild and wished for the best.
I was really excited when the package arrived. I wasn't disappointed by the appearance of the bottle. It does not scream “I am a sex toy!” so if you left it out when your parents came to visit, no one would need to feel uncomfortable. Without reading, it looks like any other bottle of lotion or bath oil.
When I opened the bottle I was delighted to find that a sweet, delicate smell emerged. I poured a small amount onto my hands and was very happy with the smooth, slippery feel of the liquid. As my hands warmed the liquid between my palms, the aroma drifted around the room and created a very sensuous, romantic atmosphere. It warmed quickly which is a wonderful attribute. It's hard to maintain a sensual, romantic environment after one has poured cold liquid onto a lover's backside. I was impressed with how little of the liquid was needed to cover my lover's back, neck and shoulders. It allowed my hands to slide across the musculature of the back easily and swiftly. I did not have to stop often to reapply, only when I switched from one area to another. I got no complaints about friction or burning; all that escaped my lover's mouth were lascivious moans and satisfied sighs. I was able to massage the back, shoulders and neck for about an hour before the liquid started to soak into the skin. As I moved on, however, and used more of the oil, the smell did (obviously) become stronger without dissipating much as it soaked in. I'm not particularly keen on strong smells, particularly strong floral smells. Although I was thoroughly pleased with the sweet, light aroma that lingered with the first smaller amounts of the oil, I became overwhelmed by it as more of the product was used. In the future, I might try combining use of this oil with an unscented grape seed or apricot seed oil. If you want to combine synthetic fragrances with natural oils, be aware of allergies and do so in very small increments. Natural oils expire just like food does and you don't want to ruin an entire bottle of wonderful massage oil that will last much longer. Expired oil smells funky, and funky smells often come with funky bacteria. I wouldn't be willing to kiss the skin that had been massaged with that! With skin-kissing in mind, I found that after the oil had settled in for a while, my lover's skin was a soft and luxurious site to rest my lips. I didn't find that it left any sort of repulsive taste that would make moving on from warm ups unpleasant. On the contrary, I delighted in pressing my lips to the soft, smooth skin. The feeling was so pleasant to my hands and lips that I soon found that I wanted to press my naked skin to this warm, silky surface.
This product does what it's supposed to. It creates an excellent ambiance. When using oils, you must keep some things in mind such as: this is NOT a condom-safe product!! It can definitely ruin the mood if you have to go scrub off oil before getting down to it. If you are using oils and condoms, be very, very careful that the two do not come into contact! Lots of people are allergic to even hypo-allergenic fragrances and oils. It's smart to test it in a small area on both parties before spreading it all over someone's body. Test it in an area that won't get chaffed by clothing, if possible, and leave it be until the next day. It is absolutely worth a day of waiting. Rashes create a miserable couple of days- trust me. A lot of oils aren't good for sensitive areas. Vaginas in particular are a bit fussy about this. If you want to move in that direction (and are using another sort of protection and not condoms!!), keep a damp towel nearby to wipe off your hands and switch to your favorite lube. I strongly recommend trying to last long enough to massage the penis or vagina. It's a great struggle of willpower!!

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
The oil is still smoothing things over in the bedroom. My lover has become much more comfortable with foreplay and seems to enjoy it a lot more. It's a nice addition, I would like to try different types of massage oils to see how they compare. It is difficult to review something when you have only tried one product like it! I have only ever used natural oils in the past (which can spoil and can cause infections because they are food products). I have combined this with apricot oil, one-time use amounts, not mixing the whole bottle in! And I like that a little better. It's a less intense smell and I love the way natural oils make your skin feel, though many people don't care for them because they don't "soak in" as quickly. Regardless, it's been lovely for me and I will use it all up before trying something new!

Sensual Massage Oil- What the heck do they smell like?
-
Sensual Massage oil has a nice little selection of scents...
Here's the problem- There are 5 scents to choose from, but no way to know what each one smells like! There is no description of any kind! And most of the names (Pleasure Garden, Healing Blend, Serenity and soaring Spirit) give no hint as to what scents they include!
Does anyone know of a website/page that describes each scent option better than EF's product page? -

I read the first 3 reviews that had been posted on this product, and was discouraged when they didn't describe all 5 scents. After reading your response, I decided to go through and read every review for this product, in search of descriptions.

"~Purple- Healing Blend
"Rich blend of essential oils for soothing muscles and restoring harmony."
This scent is very relaxing and warm. This is a great scent for when you want to relax and unwind. It has elemi, clary sage, clove, and nutmeg. It's a warm and sensuous nutmeg/clove scent. It makes you feel warm and sleepy.
~Turquoise- Soaring Spirit
"Invigorating blend of pure essential oils to energize and refresh."
This scent contains scent notes of citrus, geranium, ginger and fennel. This scent makes you feel clean and awake! To me it smells like strong peppermint.
~Orange- Sweet Almond
"Sensual combination of calming oils for relaxation and de-stressing."
This one smells exactly like almond extract. I love that smell! It contains the oils of sweet almonds, vitamin E, and skin smoothing emollients.
~Green- Pleasure Garden
"Aromatic mix of pure essential oils for sensual and seductive intimacy."
This one contains oils from Italian bergamot, ylang ylang, neroli, rose, lavender, and sandalwood. To me it smells like a sexy blend of sandalwood and lavender. It's very warm and cozy.
~Blue- Serenity
"Soothing mixture of pure essential oils for quieting body and soul."
It contains oils from warm cedar, sweet marjoram, orange, and lavender. I think this one smells the lightest and kinda smells like a mix of sweet almond and healing blend. It doesn't smell unique. It's a very relaxing scent and it's the lightest."

"The sweet almond is the most simple of the oils. While the Pleasure Garden is italian jasmine, rose, lavender and sandalwood; the Soaring Spirit is fruity with orange, lemon, peppermint, spearmint, geranium, ginger and fennel; and the Healing Blend is more of a woodsy smell with lavender, cardamom, rosemary, marjoram, elemi, clary sage, black pepper, clove, nutmeg, juniper and pine."
I wanted to share those two descriptions, in case someone else is wondering what they smell like and (like me) doesn't think to read through ALL the reviews for a description. :)
