The collection - oils gift set by KamaSutra

I’ve been eyeing The Collection for a while now, so I was delighted hear that it would be the focus of my latest review. I’ve used several products from the Kama Sutra line before and always found them to be very elegant and sensual. Being single makes trying out a couples’ product (like this set) a little more challenging, so I called up some of my girlfriends for an impromptu girls’ night. Amidst the nail polish, mixed drinks, and chick flicks, we had a quick taste test and a few back massages.

The Kama Sutra brand has a very sexy, spicy scent that infuses all of its products, so just opening the box is an olfactory dance of joy. The Collection comes with five oils: The Original, Chocolate Mint, Cherry Almond, Raspberry Kiss, and Vanilla Crème. As a whole, they are thick and syrupy. If you don’t want to end up fusing yourself to your partner’s tacky skin, you’ll end up using a lot more than a regular, non-kissable oil.

The Original is based on the signature Kama Sutra scent, and it reminds me of the taste of Honey Dust. Of all five flavors, The Original was my favorite – Raspberry Kiss and Vanilla Crème were fairly straightforward, while Cherry Almond reminded me of a very light cough syrup. I found the Chocolate Mint uninspiring, but I prefer my chocolate honest-to-Godiva instead of artificial.

My girlfriends and I chose our favorites and then took turns slathering each other. I all but dove for The Original, and my roommate came up with Cherry Almond. Working a thick dollop over her back, I was surprised at how much oil I had to use; it was so sticky that I just had to keep pouring it on.

The bottles in this kit are fairly small, but there is enough for several nights of fun. We went through about a fourth to a sixth of the bottle for each back massage. There was a slight warming sensation (as the packaging promised) but nothing too intense. When everyone was done, we had to take turns diving into the shower; the oils leave a very sweet, sticky residue. The Collection made for a wonderful girls’ night, but we all agreed that such tasty, kissable oils would be a lot more fun with a partner, as a nice warm-up to some shower play.

The only real problem I ran into with this set was the way the bottles leak. After you break the bottle seals, the corks begin to leak and then become infused with oil. The bottles end up sticky and oily. Of course, oil massages are messy by nature, but I still like to clean up when I’m done.

All in all, I love this set and the opportunity to explore several different flavors. It’s a fantastic and elegant gift idea for the couples on your list; in fact, I’m planning on ordering another set as a wedding gift!
