Keeping my Socks on for This One

While this product would be a great little gift, it is hardly great when in use. Only lasts one hour and doesn't give you enough to really get a good massage going unless you just heat the whole candle. The only thing I could suggest this for is people who might be looking into trying out wax play due to the quickness that the oil cools and dries on the skin.

Use

Pico Bong has created a set of interesting single use massage oil candles that of course are meant to set the mood as well as enhance it with a warming massage between you and a partner. Because of the small size and the hour long light time, this is something that you will use quickly and only once or maybe twice depending on how long you keep it lit for. It could also be used for wax play, if that is something you and your partner are into, if a massage isn't up your alley.

Though you want to make sure and test it, as not all skins can handle the heat. It didn't irritate me, but if you are sensitive skin you want to be careful.

Ingredients:
Glycine soja (soy wax), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter), prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, perfume (vanillin, ethyl hydroxypyrone , butyrolactone.)

Soy Wax, Shea butter and Apricot Kernal oil are certainly natural but I had to check out just what is in the perfume.

Vanillin - It is the primary component of the extract of the vanilla bean
Ethyl Hydroxypyrone - All I could find was that it was for masking and perfume.
Butyrolactone - a colorless oily liquid with a weak characteristic odor and is soluble in water.

So while the candle itself is natural the fragrance is synthetic, which was a downside for me.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

For me it was VERY hard to use this, the wax melted and it felt oily once I touched to to my skin but it hardened too quick for me to be able to use this as a massage oil. When it did harden, I was able to warm it a bit with my hands but it got very grainy at that point on my body and would pull at the hairs on my skin. So it started to remind me of waxing and less of a nice mood enhancing massage.

Taste / Aroma

I was expecting this to remind me of perhaps a nice Spanish Mole sauce in its smell, but when I lit it...all I got was a smokey waxy smell. Even on my skin there didn't seem to be any scent from what I was able to rewarm with my hands and get rubbed on. It left me smelling like a plain candle according to my partner which for him wasn't really sexy at all.

I did not taste this product.

Performance

For a massage oil candle, I didn't really get to test its performance. It dries far to quickly to be able to use for a massage on my body.

For some wax play however, I found it to be good for a travel candle. We used a lighter to warm it up from the bottom for a short amount of time and then poured it on to the skin. Because it cooled rather quickly on me it was good enough to give a sting but not be overly hot. So I would certainly recommend this to anyone who isn't too sensitive and might be looking to put their toes into the waters of wax play.

Packaging

The packaging is very simple, just a cardboard envelope that wraps around the candle and then a sticker on top of where you will light it. It is easy to throw out and small enough that you can hide it in any thing you are taking during an evening out/honeymoon/vacation. The packaging is a nice bright purple that catches the eye and doesn't scream 'this is for the sex'.

The candle it self is in a tin round that is about as big as a 50 cent piece or condom, that kind of reminded me of when you get cinnamon rolls from the store that your icing comes in. If it wasn't for the packaging I am pretty sure I would have mistaken it for just that.

On the inside of the cardboard are instructions for use, in various different languages (Dutch, French, Spanish) which reads 'light candle and burn until the warm massage oil is ready to delight your senses and moisturize your skin.'

Then of course all of the warnings:

~"Keep burning candles within sight and out of reach of children and pets.
~Keep away from flammable materials and drafts.
~Extinguish candle before pouring onto body.
~Discontinue use and consult doctor if you experience allergic reaction.
~Always check temperature of oil before use.
~Trim wick to 0.5cm and remove debris before lighting.
~Do not swallow, avoid contact with eyes.
~Do not burn entire candle."

Follow-up commentary
As I could only really get one use out of massage oil candle, it is really hard to say if I like it or not after a few months. I attempted to light it up again to just warm it over my oven to get the bits of candle that was left to melt to see if the smell or feeling grew on me.

Needless to say it didn't, the smell was still odd and smokey. And I couldn't get it to warm up enough that the oil felt good on my skin, it was too cold and dragged.
