Lavender Escape

I love these bath salts. They really soften my skin and the lavender scent is wonderful. I love that they color the bath water as well, it really adds to the experience of a nice bath by engaging more senses. A jar has enough salts for a good few baths, too.

Use

Venus Aromatic Bath Salts are just that, aromatic bath salts. What sets them apart for me is the fact that they also color the water when they dissolve, so my lavender bath salts turn my bath a nice shade of purple. It is a mixture of Dead Sea salts with some fragrance and color added, so I don't think it would cause any irritation for many people with sensitive skin. Dead Sea salt is recognized for being good for skin, with skin softening properties. It definitely makes for a relaxing bath.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

In the jar, these salts are somewhat moist and sticky. They have a slightly slippery feel. They kind of clump together a little. This is because of the color and fragrance that coats them. The dye and fragrance will come off on your hands a little when you scoop them out of the jar but this will rinse off easily with water. The salts themselves are small chunks, similar to the size of the kind of cooking sea salt you can buy to use in a salt grinder.

Once dissolved, they give the water a slightly slippery feel. Almost like a light bath oil would, although there isn't any oil in them. It is a similar feeling to sea water. Salts soften the water and this can make it feel a little slick.

Taste / Aroma

I chose the lavender scent for my bath salts, and they have a nice rich lavender scent that is very relaxing. I can't really identify any other scents mixed in with the lavender, it is a very pure lavender scent. The salts are a nice deep purple color, which goes very well with the scent. When they dissolve the water turns a nice light purple shade. Lavender is a great scent for use before bed, because it is a natural relaxant. I love using these salts for a bath right before bedtime, because they get me very relaxed and ready for bed. The smell is very strong in the jar, but in the bath it becomes nice and light. You can get a stronger scent by using more of the salts at a time. I usually use a little more than a palmful, and the scent is nice and light but still very noticeable. Using about that much or sometimes a little more, I have been able to get probably seven or eight baths out of a jar. If my bathroom was a typical closed bathroom I would imagine the smell would fill the room nicely, but my bathtub is set into the floor of my bedroom. I find that once I get out, if I walk back into my bedroom I can smell it lightly. The smell won't fade in the middle of your bath. I usually take very long baths, and I can still smell it by the end of my bath.

Performance

These are quality bath salts. They make my skin feel soft and smooth when I get out of the tub, and the smell and the color is very nice and relaxing. I don't feel like I need to rinse a residue off of my skin when I get out of the tub, and I like that a lot. I hate bath products that make me feel just as dirty as I did before I got into the tub, like some bath oils do. I was also very happy to note that the coloring doesn't stain the tub or my skin. The bath water will turn a lovely shade of lavender, but I don't even notice a purplish tint or residue when I drain the tub.

Special Features

I really like that these bath salts tint the water of your bath. It really adds to the relaxation factor of the lavender scent, as purple is a very relaxing color for me. A handful will make the water a nice light shade of lavender, almost grayish, and two or more handfuls will deepen that color to a nice clear purple. The dye used will not stain your tub or your skin either, which is nice. I am not sure if it will stain fabrics, though, so I would be careful not to spill it on any rugs or towels.

I would love to try this scent but it's been out of stock for a good while and I'm worried they aren't going to carry the line anymore. This sounds relaxing and I like that it will turn the water colors! Thanks for the review.

Great review on this! I've been wanting to get pomegranate! Sounds great. I'm glad to hear these are good quality and even soften your skin. As soon as the pomegranate are back in stock, I'm getting them now. Thank you for sharing. I worry this scent would be too much for me -- I'm migraine prone. (
