Organic lip balm - lip balm discontinued by Evolution of Smooth - review by Eva Schwaltz

The Organic Lip Balm is a good choice for those who love organic products but it doesn’t outshine any other lip balms and I’ll get to that in a bit. I have the strawberry sorbet, but you can also get Tangerine, Honeysuckle, Sweet mint, Summer fruit, and lemon.

It comes in a neat ball shaped container with a screw on cap, perfect for purses or makeup bags. If you leave it out like I did, it becomes the perfect little cat toy. It was a bit bigger than what I was expecting, but it holds 0.25 fl.oz which should last, even with frequent use.

Ingredients include: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax (Cire D'abeille)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Natural Flavor, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract*, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract*, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract*, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract*, Linalool. * Organic. Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth.

This balm is very hard compared to most other creamy/buttery balms I’ve tried. It’s like applying lipstick, accept you can’t get very much. Unless your lips are very dry and chapped, it’s difficult to rub on a lot of this balm. It feels kind of heavy and waxy on my lips which is why I don’t like it very much.

The smell of this balm reminds me of Kama Sutra’s EroStick Lip Gloss in Strawberry. Mind you, this doesn’t have the same “plumping” affect, but just the smell is the same. It has a hint of some strawberry flavor, but it’s like licking a candle, so I prefer to leave it alone and let it just moisturize my lips.

This product requires more effort to put on the lips than other balms out there, and once you do get a good amount, it just feels waxy. My lips aren’t chapped in the summer, but I don’t think this would help much. It only gives my lips a bit of flavor but no color. I constantly have to reapply it because it glides on so lightly. It may be better to get another flavor such as mint for dry/chapped lips because this particular one hardly cuts it.

If I may talk about cats again, loose cat hair love to fly onto the balm and stick to my lips along with my hair if I don’t have it up. I don’t notice my lips feeling any softer from usage, but this seems to have different effects on people. If I had to make a choice, I would pick Cake Beauty’s lip gloss over this any day.
