Like Spa Treatment For Your Toys
Aside from the potentially unsafe factor of this stuff, I have to give it 4 stars for its other attributes. It's a really cool and effective toy cleaner.Published: May 27, 2011
Pros:
Easy pop-top bottle, vitamin E bursting beads, good price for a good amount
Cons:
Could be a bit of a health safety concern
Climax Bursts Toy Cleaner is my new favorite piece of mind in terms of cleanliness. In terms of safety may be somewhat questionable, though.
This water-based cleaning solution contains an antimicrobial to repel bacteria and is filled with bursting beads that contain vitamin E to protect your skin. It is thick and gel-like with a very subtle yet refreshing scent that screams "cleanliness", and though it goes on thick, it rubs in and wipes off somewhat watery. It also comes in a very fancy bottle with a pop top that's fun and easy to use.
The one potential downside to this cleaner is its active ingredient which after I explain a little bit more about, you'll definitely want to heed the directions that tell you to rinse the cleaner from the toy after using it. So, Be sure to rinse with clean water!
Ingredients are as follows:
Active Ingredient - Triclosan. Even though Triclosan is a very effective and widely used antimicrobial, it has had its fair share of controversy from being harmful to the environment to potentially causing cancer in humans, which you can read all about here. Now before I was aware of this information I was using the solution all on its own without the application of warm water to rinse it off afterward (also disregarding the instructions in doing this), but now I have taken the extra precaution to rinse the cleaner itself off every time I use it to be on the safe side.
With that being said, let's move onto the Inactive ingredients in this solution so that you can see if any are listed that you know your body reacts poorly too beforehand.
Inactive Ingredients - Acrylates Copolymer, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Cellulose, Chromium Hydroxide Greens, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Coco-Glucoside, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum), Glyceryl Oleate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Iron Oxides, Lactose, Mannitol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Polyquaternium-7, Propylene Glycol, SD Alcohol 40, Sodium C14-16, Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Tocopheryl Acetate, and Water.
The directions tell you to unplug or take the batteries out of your toys before cleaning and to apply generously and wait 30 seconds before wiping the toy. It then tells you to rinse completely with clean water, which is something I cannot stress enough!
Aside from this one potential downfall, this stuff is really wonderful and I love the shiny new look and scent it brings to my toys. As for convenience, though, and if you are somebody extremely concerned with 100% safety, you may want to consider something a little more guaranteed on the safety scale. For the price tag, I still really like lots about this cleaner and will continue to use for it now regardless. I'll just be sure to always properly rinse it from the toy afterward.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
Even though I use it a lot less since researching the ingredients, it still does its job really well when you really want to get a toy clean and looking/feeling like it's brand new. Still, if only it contained safer ingredients, I'd use it all the time.

Top problems?
-
The top looks good but is hard to open and when useing strength it pops off. Is this normal? any one have the same problems with the bottle?
-
Yep, I covered that in my review. First time I pulled the cap up I popped it right off, but it popped right back on too. Mine even looks like it's about to fall apart but hasn't yet.

WHATS THE BEST CLEANER?
-
WHAT CHEMICAL IS THE BEST TO CLEAN TOYS WITH AND WILL NOT HURT YOU?
-
The only cleaner I've ever used that was made specifically for toys was WET brand's Keep It Clean. I still use it and swear by it, you can read my review on it. It cleans thoroughly, does not leave residue, rinses clean, smells awesome, and it's a foaming cleanser which makes the bottle last forever and provides a more thorough clean on anything that has a texture to it. I have the Butterfly Kiss and the butterfly part has wings, antennae, and several lines etched along his belly. Keep It Clean gets in there just fine. On a side note, I was cleaning him the other day and his wing slipped from between my fingers and flicked soapy water in my eye, haha. So I can also say that Keep It Clean will not burn your eyes, at least not from a small amount.

Thank you for viewing Climax bursts toy cleaner – toy cleanser review page!

Great review, thanks.
Very nice review, thanks!
Great review! Thank you.
great review, thanks. I dont see why use this if it can cause cancer, instead of some soap.
Good review and thanks for the info.
Good review. Thanks for the helpful info about the potentially harmful ingredients.
Thanks, all, and glad to be able to provide some good, important info that may be overlooked.
Sloppy donkey, it's not guaranteed that it is, but yes, I do totally see your point. It is good stuff, but I'm in the market for something you can use more conveniently & not to have rinse away anyway. Then I see no point in just not using soap.
This is sweet.
Great review.
cancer? what? really? scary...
Yea, I think I'll stay away from this stuff if the potential to get cancer from it is real. Thanks for the info and great review!
