Look at this salt, isn't it neat?

While a jar of Kamasutra's Treasures of the Sea isn't buried pirate gold, it certainly is a treasure in its own right. The perfect gift for anyone who loves baths, or a treat for yourself if you want some pampering. Between the scent, the bubbles and the colour, these salts truly make the bath an indulgent experience! I would readily recommend these to just about anyone.

Use

Kamasutra's Treasures of the Sea bath salts are designed to be added to bath water to produce scent, colour, bubbles and possibly some benefits to the skin, as well.
Using this product is pretty simple! While the bath water is running, add salts to taste (I usually use between one and two scoops; it goes a long way). Adding bath salts is made easy with the pretty seashell scoop included in the jar. (If you are opening the jar for the first time, however, I would advise you to open it in a sink, as the jar is quite full and the seashell is sealed in a small plastic bag... it can scatter salt everywhere if you're not careful!)

After adding the salts, I stir them up with my hands and let the bath finish running. Add more salts earlier for more bubbles, and add less salts once the bath is finished running for little to no bubbles.

This product should work for most audiences. I have fairly sensitive skin, myself; even face creams and the like tend to burn a little. Luckily, these bath salts didn't irritate my finicky skin at all. If you have a scent allergy, however, stay away. While the scent is very pleasant and not overpowering, it could still trigger a reaction.

The best time to use these salts? Whenever you want to, really! Whether it's a relaxing bath by yourself or a romantic soak for two, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The bath salts themselves are more like a collection of different consistencies. Between the larger white chunks and the finer, slightly damp granules, there is quite some variety in texture... Not that it matters much, since you'll be dissolving it in your bath. It does look rather pretty and exotic as it is, though.
Scooping it out with the included seashell is easy enough; it allows you to measure it out approximately.
As for how it affects the water... It might sound strange, but the water almost feels smoother when these salts are added. It will produce a nice amount of bubbles if added early in the bath; more than enough to pick up with your hands and play with.

Taste / Aroma

I love the smell of these bath salts. Even though they are supposed to smell like the ocean, they don't smell particularly briny or seaweedy. That is probably for the best. Instead, they are reminiscent of the ocean, smelling clean and refreshing and still somehow a little "marine". If you smell them in the jar, it's a little strong, to be sure, but when added to the water, it's just right... For my nose, anyway! It's great to relax in; I spent a good hour in the bath and my nose didn't begin to burn, nor did my eyes water. It's quite a gentle scent when used as directed.

As for the taste... I'm not even going there. I can only say that I don't recommend you taste it!
    • Light smell

Performance

Add just one or two seashells full of these salts to your bath water, and you'll soon find your bathtub has turned into an azure pool surrounded by bubbly clouds. It's really very soothing to look at, and even more pleasurable to soak in. I found that the bubbles lasted a fairly long time.

As for the scent, it was present the entire time of my numerous baths that lasted up to and beyond an hour each.

When it comes to the blueness, you don't need to worry about it staining your skin or the bathtub; I noticed neither of these things. It does leave a very light, lingering scent on your skin, and the bathroom will smell vaguely of the salts as well; I don't mind in either case, as the afterscent is pleasing to my senses. If you're worried about smelling of the salts for a long time, don't be; it does tend to wear off overnight. I haven't noticed any staining of towels, either, which is a bonus. Clearly, these salts are magical!

I find that it makes my skin feel softer after a bath, and perhaps even a little less dry than a bath would normally make it.
    • Lots of bubbles
    • Non-staining

Packaging

Treasures of the Sea comes in a (happily) large plastic jar that holds roughly 24.6 ounces. This translates to plenty of baths, as each scoop goes a long way. The jar is clear, and has a wrap-around label with a marine motif and the Kamasutra logo on the front and on the black plastic lid. The lid screws on tightly, preventing moisture from getting inside. In terms of discretion, the least discreet thing about the packaging are the words "Kama Sutra" on the side and top of the jar, which isn't a huge deal. I mean, they're bath salts, so I don't worry too much about discretion.
The jar also houses, along with the salts, a white seashell scoop sealed in a small, closed plastic baggie. As I mentioned above, removing this may sprinkle salts where you don't want them, so do it over a sink, etc.

Instructions are on the side of the jar. The jar should be fine for travel because it closes tightly, but for extra security, wrap it in a plastic bag before putting it in your suitcase.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I have to say, although I loved baths before, these bath salts really make the experience special. Between the ethereal blue water, the clean scent and the bubbles, my baths really get an upgrade when I use these. I'd definitely buy them again.

Experience

When I first used these salts, I had high expectations. They were exceeded.
Adding them to the running water, I was surprised to see that there were bubbles! Not only that, but the water turned such a lovely shade of blue. It was enchanting in its own right.
Soaking in the bath water became rather addictive, and I spent a good deal of time in the bath.

They've yet to disappoint me, and I've used the salts quite a few times since then. One jar really does go a long way, but I can see myself buying more before the first is even depleted!
